Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have trusted Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security to secure our MS Exchange Email Servers for 14 years now. We have two Exchange Servers in place and over 100 users connecting to those. The purpose of this installation is to secure our users/workstations from all kinds of threats in incoming email messages.

  • Protection from malicious attachments.
  • Definition pattern updates.

  • Protection again clickbait messages.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We wanted to have a solution in place which can help us to eradicate or for that matter minimizes our threats coming over the email. With this solution, we could enable our protection against targeted attacks, ransomware, malicious web links, spear phishing etc. It blocks malware, phishing attacks and spams coming over at the beginning only even before it enters in to the system. It also comes along with DLP feature which helps us to enhance our ecosystem against threats. Data is encrypted while it is transferred or at rest. The deep discovery analyzer dives deeper into its book if it comes across something which looks malicious but has no records so far.

Pros

  • Deep Discovery analyzer provides sandboxing and deep threat analyses
  • DLP capabilities are also good. It has a number of pre defined DLP templates
  • Works very well against targeted attacks
  • Lowers impact at the email gateway as it filters away the email in the cloud

Cons

  • UI/UX can be improved for a better interface to be delivered to the admin and team
  • You come across false positives also a number of times
  • Log details can become difficult sometimes to search and analyze
