What is UZIO?

UZIO is a cloud-based HR, payroll and benefits management software and services purpose-built for these small and mid-sized businesses. UZIO aspires to eliminate losses because of manual entries. With a few clicks, users get access to delineated payroll reporting to stay-on-the-top of compliance needs.

UZIO's platform currently includes native AI Agent Services and AI Copilot, Payroll, Tax Admin, HR + HR Compliance, Time + Scheduling, AI Expense Management, and Benefits Administration.

We love UZIO

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I personally use UZIO as an employee and an employer. It’s easy to toggle back-and-forth between the two. the system is user-friendly for both myself and my employees. It’s easy to keep track of my time off as well as approved or deny their time off and keep track of their timesheets. We love using UZIO! Rarely running into issues with it. when we first started using it there were some glitches and hangups, but it seems that those have been worked out and I do not have any complaints as of late. It has helped my employees stay on track and has helped with accountability in staying within their hours.

  • at the beginning of the year sometimes there are errors in accumulated time off per employee

We use Uzio as our benefit platform , it allows an easier sign up for benefits and during open enrollment.

Pros

  • It's easy to see the plans and what your signing up for
  • You can report qualified life changes and it processes it
  • It creates less work for the HR team most of the time

Cons

  • It lags behind enrollment changes or new enrollments causing deduction issues
  • employees get confused for the sign up/sign in process
  • its not mobile friendly

  • we only use it for benefits we were told we were too big for payroll

We use UZIO for our payroll as well as for our HR needs. Our health insurance broker introduced UZIO to us and we couldn't be happier.

  • We were paying a ridiculous amount of money for a PEO to provide HR and payroll needs, and the transition to UZIO was easy, reliable and very transparent. The savings we have generated as a result are HUGE.

After a disappointing (and expensive) experience with another HRIS provider, we were relieved to find UZIO. They are willing and able to work with us as a cannabis business. From day one, the team at UZIO has been a pleasure to work with. The migration process was incredibly smooth, and their support team is very responsive and helpful. Questions are addressed quickly and issues are resolved efficiently. We appreciate UZIO’s commitment to continuous improvement and their openness to hearing user feedback on what is working and what could be changed for better productivity. They are regularly adding new features, updating existing processes, and making the system even more intuitive and efficient. For any cannabis company, we highly recommend UZIO. They’ve made our transition seamless and our HR operations far easier to manage.

  • AI Co-pilot helps create reports and gathers information easily.
  • The UZIO team listens to our feedback!

Cons

  • We have a shift that crosses midnight and the system resets OT calculation when it becomes a new day, but in CA OT is calculated on hours worked and doesn’t split a shift at midnight for OT purposes. So far they have been unable to address this as it's not an issue in other states.
  • Holiday Pay has been an issue because of our policy - too many changing variables to create a process. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust holiday pay on the employee's timesheet. That would be the simplest solution but so far that hasn't happened.
  • Non-US Citizen beneficiary. This is not an option when electing benefits. Not a big deal unless you have employees with families abroad. We had one and we created a work around.
  • Everything has to be downloaded. You cannot click on an employee's pay stub (for example) and view it within UZIO. It must be downloaded to your computer. Not a big deal - just takes more time and more files to delete on your computer.

Return on Investment

  • UZIO has had a positive impact on the time it takes to onboard/offboard or complete payroll.
  • UZIO is much more affordable that some of the other HRIS systems.
  • The only negative is that they do not have a performance mgmt system.

UZIO is a perfect payroll solutions for small cannabis retail operations

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We opted to use UZIO as a payroll system for our small retail cannabis business. Because we're part of the cannabis industry, finding a payroll solution was not easy. From the initial set up phase through to manager and staff use, UZIO has offered a very easy, reliable solution for our organization to track time and pay employees.

Pros

  • Tech support is consistent and reliable.
  • User interface is easy for employees tracking time and managers approving time.
  • High degree of confidence in the tech.

Cons

  • We use the time tracking and payroll aspects of UZIO. I understand there are additional HR support aspects, but we haven't needed those yet.

Return on Investment

  • Payroll processing takes less than an hour each week.
  • Adding new employees is a streamlined, quick process.
  • Employees report ease of use in time tracking.
