We use Vmware vRealize log to manage, analyze, monitor, and administer system logs. It helps us in the monitoring of application logs, network traces, configure files, messages, and performance data and can be monitored on the UI.
Pros
It is used for log collection and analysis the virtual applications. Admins collect, view, manage and analyze system logs.
It provides real-time monitoring of application logs, network traces, config files, notification alerts, etc.
Provide the ability to manage infra, which helps in identifying and troubleshooting virtual applications.
The new features like proxy less event forwarding to vRealize log insight cloud are quite useful.
Cons
If we can integrate it with other products, then it will be quite useful. Integration with some network devices and storage devices would be useful.
It basically supports the system with big-size VM disks; it should be made available to support other devices and hardware as well.
They may also need to improve on complex configuration.
Likelihood to Recommend
With the introduction of API-based event alerts, there is no need for a proxy, which is a good option. Its ability to manage infra on a real-time basis is a good option that helps monitor, administer and troubleshoot virtual machines.
vRealize Operations is becoming very helpful in our day-to-day activities. It offers so many features like dashboards, reports, views, troubleshooting workbenches. The major business problems it addresses are, centralized management can be done easily, optimizing infrastructure or cluster, fetching reports as per the available metrics, easier to troubleshoot a VM or ESXi using timestamping.
Pros
Troubleshooting Workbench to work on multiple data at one place.
Centralized Management between on-premises and cloud resources.
Customized management packs.
Cons
Bit tricky in terms of policy objects.
Virtual machine adaptor has some limited metrics available.
Likelihood to Recommend
It comes really handy for repeated tasks like weekly/monthly health checks, schedule fetching automatic reports, troubleshooting any performance issues. I used it for getting reports like old snapshots or VMs with ISO mounted, datastores running out of capacity, and a lot more. Sometimes it becomes less appropriate while searching for a specific metric.
I have been using vROPS for about 6 yrs now. We use this product to help us get a better insight into our virtual environment's health and performance. The product has a plethora of other product packs you can install to help manage or just get information on other devices, appliances, or products within your environment. We use vROPS primarily with our virtual infrastructure and it provides up meaning full alerts for ussies not seen by our end users. The depth and detail of the metrics I am able to pull from our virtual environment allow us to pinpoint the issues quicker than many other products I have used. With this product, I can easily develop a dashboard specific to projects and applications to allow app managers and contractors to view their specific environment and all the related resources. The product runs on its own vAPP, with its own database structure which is nice so that there is no degrading underlying Microsoft OS to deal with or link to an already overburdened SQL DB. The most recent upgrade of vROPs has cleaned up a lot of clutter and streamlined the menu interface. This product is extremely helpful in troubleshooting our day-to-day issues and I know we are only using but a fraction of its capabilities. vROPs also allow you to perform forecasting and hypothetical environment changes to provide you with impact statistics which are helpful in a resource tight environment.
Pros
graphical reports
Alerts
application speed
single pain of glass
reporting
Cons
reclamation report - I miss this feature
system health status reports
richer user community

If you are running a VMware virtual environment it makes sense to go with the product designed by the same company. We never run into the blaming game that it's vCenter and not vROPS if a communication or metric issue arises. You receive support from the same company for either product and the support techs know how to fix either environment to resolve the problem. We have been able to pull some very detailed metrics to help troubleshoot issues that would in the past take multiple people many hours to figure out. I am always able to provide the right information to the right people to allow them to make a decision on a fix for the issue. I love being able to provide Application Support personnel and Contractors loads of data and pretty graphs to show the behavior of their product when issues arise. No, it was not the network it was your application. vROPS helps me to provide monthly reports to help different projects stay on track. Without it, I would be stuck using PowerShell and banging my head against the wall.
We use this program to monitor our VMware infrastructure. With this software we are able to create custom dashboards to ensure that capacity and performance are in line with our service level offering. vRealize allows us to define our own in key performance indicators and send out alerts when they fall below specific thresholds.
Pros
Create custom dashboards focusing on customized infrastructure attributes such as cpu, memory, disk.
Send automated reports.
Cons
More features should be available in the standard version.
Licensing is very expensive.
Likelihood to Recommend
VRealize is well suited for an organization that is heavily invested in the VMware ecosystem. There are a ton of plugins and management packs that will allow you to integrate with just about every major area of your infrastructure whether its storage, backup, cloud, or monitoring related. It is less appropriate for a company that does not already have a financial licensing agreement with VMware already established as it can be very expensive if paid for a la carte.
We use vRealize Operations to help with workflow operations. The ability to plan deployments, which help with determining if hosts or clusters can handle a new VM with specific specs. we also use vRealize in determining where we can save on resources such as deleting VM's that have been turned off for so many days, or if a VM is under utilizing ram, CPU, or storage. Finally we use vRealize in a health check of our environment which has been very helpful during outages.
Pros
Shows us where we can save on cost of keeping machines running, or boosting resources on VM's
the ability to plan deployments with scenario plans that can be customized over a specific timeline
reports that can be sent and shared with different teams or departments
Cons
Its a complex software that is gathering info daily, sometimes determining how to get the info you want can be troublesome that requires the help from VMware to get setup.
A better search function to allow users to pull info instead of going through predetermine dashboards
Likelihood to Recommend
A health checker of an environment, that will tell you cost analysis of what that fault or vm is costing your company. vRealize will also tell you where you can save costs by removing unused resources.
It is implemented across the organization. Basically it is used to only monitor our virtual environment. We are not monitoring hardware from VRO. I have done some PowerShell scripting with VRO and created some daily reports. It is working OK for now. I have mixed feelings on VRO and there may be a better option available in the market but I am not the decision maker.
Pros
It is a VMware product so integration is so easy.
It is agentless and monitoring very well.
I like the dynamic threshold option where value is set on its own.
Cons
There are less space for customization.
Cannot use for OS monitoring.
Some option are very complex like getting an ideal VM report.
Likelihood to Recommend
vRealize Operations (VRO) is the best option if you are a complete VMware shop. Like if you have vCenter, VRA and VCO. This is the right product to monitor your virtual environments. But it's not suited for any OS and application level monitoring. Some functions are very complex and need good technical knowledge. I cannot make some HTML based daily reports which we could use for management level reporting(like a graph and table in one report).
