Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As you probably can relate to, I am struggling with students to read the chapters. WileyPLUS has helped me a lot in getting closer to my goal of getting students to read the assigned chapters by making WileyPLUS’ adaptive practices part of the grade. The adaptive practices WileyPLUS developed are unique and set themselves apart from other publishers. If students try to attempt to complete the questions found in adaptive practices without reading the corresponding chapters, they will have a hard time receiving the full credit. A student who is well prepared when starting the adaptive practices will be able to identify the concepts they are still struggling with and which concepts they have mastered. In contrast, a student who is struggling with a particular concept may be prompted to review and answer questions related to earlier concepts relevant to the current concepts. For example, a student struggling with the physiological changes related to stress may be prompted to review concepts first introduced in the biology chapter to ensure that they have mastered the concept.

It works great for asynchronous online courses and synchronous face-to-face courses. There really isn't a scenario where it is less suited for.

We use it for our accounting classes. It intergrades well with Canvas. They have quality content and are relevant to meet our teaching needs. Several of their textbooks has a data analytics component which is very helpful.

Pros

Quality content - the materials were developed by faculty who have lots of experience in the field. Several of their textbooks have a data analytics component which is very helpful for our students.
Great customer support - representatives from Wiley are very good at returning emails and they are very attentive to any needs that we have for their products.
Good value - I believe their textbooks along with their learning supplements provide very good value for faculty and our students.

Cons

I have compared them with other publishers and I can't think of any at the moment. Other publishers may have several titles for the same subject as Wiley, which provides more options for instructors to pick from, but I personally don't think it's an issue.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's a good platform that has some very good content. We use Canvas as our learning management platform. It is nice to be able to integrate some of the pre-build WileyPLUS course modules into our Canvas course. Other publishers are good too and they sync with Canvas, but I find Wiley's Canvas modules easy to use and customize.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

WileyPLUS is our homework and material platform for intermediate accounting students. Students enroll in this platform, and their homework is administered there. The platform also includes direct links to an e-textbook that corresponds to the topic.

Pros

Provides students with e-textbook access.
Provides professors with a platform to administer assignments (up to, and including, exams)
Grades assignments automatically.
Provides links by topic to extra resources (even at 2 am!)

Cons

Pre-designed assignments are too long and difficult to edit.
Algorithmic assignments continue for too many problems.

Likelihood to Recommend

The Wiley Intermediate Textbook is the best in the industry. Pairing it with WileyPLUS is a "no-brainer".

WileyPlus is a great learning management system that allows students to access all of their textbook materials in one place. Students can explore chapters in the LMS and find educational materials that will better help them learn the material and develop proficiency in areas where they may have weaknesses. WileyPlus contains an e-textbook, adaptive practice materials and guided practice materials, as well as a wealth of other resources that students can use. Whatever a student might need, it can be found in WileyPlus.

Pros

Excellent e-textbook.
Adaptive practice with learning paths customized for each student.
Videos, updates, lots of exercises.

Cons

Would like to see a feature that makes it easy to switch from one edition of a textbook to an updated edition of that same textbook.

We use WileyPLUS for some of our courses. Students use WileyPLUS for their homework assignments and to prepare for their exams.

Pros

WileyPLUS provides excellent Power Point Slides.
They provide up-to-date learning materials.
They have very supportive customer service team.

Cons

They could provide simplified steps to set up a homework assignment.
The selections of different features could be displayed on the same webpage with different tabs.
Overall, WileyPLUS has done a wonderful job and I enjoy using it.

With the help of WileyPLUS, instructors can prepare the teaching efficiently using pre-build Power Point Slides and solutions, and set up homework assignment and exams from abundant resources. Students can also have interactive learning by using adaptive practices. Wiley also provides up-to-date materials and problem-solving videos for students to learn effectively.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use WileyPLUS in my Introduction to Psychology Course. It has some incredible and unique features that help students achieve academic success in today's online learning environment. For example, auto-graded assignments where students get immediate feedback, the Orion Adaptive Practice allows students to practice based on their individual needs, and it integrates nicely into Canvas which I use extensively for teaching.

Pros

Allows educators to tailor the products to their curriculum
Is accessible to all students regardless of learning styles
Allows you to monitor student progress so you can catch struggling students early

Cons

Would like more hands on activities and/or labs that students could use in the course
Make it easier to grade some of the homework. It doesn't always catch small details that are missing

Likelihood to Recommend

It is great for scenarios where you have a diverse group of students. In my case, I teach high school students, traditional college students, and non-traditional students. It's nice that it fits a broad spectrum of students. Also, it does well meeting the needs of students with most disabilities. It is probably less appropriate for instructors that don't use Canvas or other learning management tools for teaching, or those teachers who are not flexible and/or care about their student's success.

We use many WileyPLUS textbooks for our undergraduate and graduate-level courses. They have many options in textbooks. They really care about students and instructors. Their sales and technical support are excellent. They provide many useful materials (e.g., PowerPoint slides, animations, solution manuals) for instructors. They keep updating the materials up to date.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use WileyPLUS as the E-text for my accounting classes. Students also utilize additional resources and complete problem sets/exams on the site. This creates a great alternative to classroom lectures and paper assignment submissions for the online environment. I have used the online version of WileyPLUS for many years, and each version becomes more user-friendly.

WileyPLUS is well designed and has solid content. Students in a fully online environment will benefit from utilizing this software. I also think it would still be useful in a hybrid or traditional classroom environment although I have not used it in that setting. The immediate feedback and grading would still be useful for students in more traditional learning environments.

I utilize WileyPLUS for my personal finance courses at FHSU. Students love the easy-to-use platform and the affordability of the product. I love the fact that it is auto-graded, algorithmic, easy to adapt, and comes with multiple different resources for students and faculty. The customer support and tech support are phenomenal.

I use WileyPLUS in my mathematics course. It provides a cost-effective e book and enables immediate feedback on assignments. I have been using it for 6 semesters, with each class having approximately 40 students.

Pros

Easy to install.
Great customer support.

Cons

I like their weekly tips: it would be nice to have a library of them.
