Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

I used QuickBase to formalize and standardize the processes within the company. I have developed many apps which take into consideration the existing process and automate it for the usage of folks from many functional departments. It's widely used by the sales group to track business opportunity. Another app helps sales, manufacturing, and engineering to prioritize and categorize customers' requests. It also helps in tracking the metrics such as lead time, cost, time to close the business. I have also created a few apps for use within a department to formalize ECN/ECR. This also helps in seeing the workload and in some cases, QuickBase metrics can be used to justify the need for more headcount.

Pros

  • Ease of customization. You can practically formalize any process through this.
  • Ability to create customized reports based on the audience.
  • You can restrict the app access based on the role.

Cons

  • App development can be more intuitive with features such as drag and drop.
  • Notification works fine through email. It can be detrimental if it gets lost or lands into spam. Adding a desktop notification (like Google product features) would take away the need for going through emails.
  • The need to sign in with a different password across different realms is annoying. It would be nice if Quickbase could streamline signing in through single username/password.
Quickbase can be used to formalize any process within a company as a standalone product. If a company is using some supported products then it's well and good. It may not support a few legacy or ERP software, in that case it becomes another tool to keep up with. I understand that there is hardly a tool out there which will be 100% effective for everything.
