I don't get to choose who we use. We used Vonage and now we use 8x8 Express. I like 8x8 Express because it is easier to use and more user friendly. The app saves so much time when you need to get a hold of someone because the contacts are integrated in the app.
Chose 8x8 Express (discontinued)
Our team told us that rules were not easy to set up as well as the number of call drops was very high. both are resolved with 8x8 Express.

I love 8x8. Having not used Polycom phones before, the hardest part was learning how to set up and use the actual phones. 8x8 makes it a seamless transition from using other service providers. Their customer service is excellent although if you get their cheapest plan you …

I have been using Webex Board and it simply does not fit into my room at home, where I [have mainly worked] since the pandemic. Desk Pro meets all requirements and can do the same things the Webex Board can do and more. So I don't miss a thing when I use Desk Pro.

The DX80 is no a little bit outdated. We were happy with it but needed a replacement. The Webex Desk Pro was the obvious successor. We also tried to use standard webcams with monitors. But this was hard to manage and troubleshoot. And it has a poor user experience.

The other advantage of the product is that you could use it as a conference system as well as a screen for your PC. So I'm working with three screens and one of these screen is the Desk Pro, so I do not need another screen. So it's saving space in my desk and it's high quality. So this is the plus function.

Pros
  • Being able to forward calls to my cell phone when I am out of office.
  • So much functionality. So many options.
  • One set price instead of a bunch of add-on fees.

  • It gives the added function of having multiple lines we can set up called pickup groups or music on hold, so that way it best suits whatever facilities need to have. We can set that up and it works for them on different types of phones. We also have, since Covid, everyone has gone home to work from home and we have our knock who needs to reach out in case of anything. So they needed to have VPN capabilities. So our older models of the 7942s have VPN capabilities for them to be able to also work from home.

Cons
  • We are just starting to use the platform and using limited features at the moment and 8x8 is doing everything we need it to do.

  • Training Center, Event Center, and Support Center are separate products from Webex Meetings which should be one
  • Mac Outlook Plugin has some issues while syncing
  • Google calendar synchronization seems to be an issue while using it as clients do have google suite on the business side

The device it self is incredible, but not allowing us to plug a computer devices such as mouse & keyboard direct in USB ports is a penalty. We'd like to bring up the laptop, open it, and start working.

If you get less than 4 phones you fall into the online only customer service. There were a couple of times that I could have used more assistance but figuring it out online was a bit of a hassle.

I have not had to use support yet as our use of Webex Desk Pro is so new, but all the questions that I have had have been answered with such promptness and clarity that it is clear Cisco has a passion about this device and about providing high quality in all that they do. Their support is top notch and you will never need to fear when reaching out to them.

The Cisco Desk Pro is better than Poly Studio and Neat Bar with its AI-driven video and audio enhancements, cross-platform compatibility, and integrated 4K display with whiteboarding. It doubles as a collaboration hub with USB-C laptop connectivity and strong enterprise management tools. Overall, it delivers a more complete, professional experience out of the box.

Return on Investment
  • Positive impact - pricing is right, service is easy to use.
  • Especially during the pandemic, clients who would normally just pop by the office had to call in. 8x8 Express made that so easy as we could transfer calls to our cell phones, but also received emails when a voicemail was left with an audio recording of the message. We didn't miss a beat!
  • We use some contractors that are not even in the same state as us, but our clients wouldn't know it as autoforwarding calls is super simple and seamless

  • For team work, projects are completed sooner and you can make a profit
  • Saving time and this means the possibility of more profit
  • If the number of projects is large, the investment will return quickly
  • The software license fee is too high
