Chose AutoCAD LT
I have not used any other drafting programs like AutoCAD LT but we used to create potential site layouts on adobe InDesign. we had to create a scale and manually calculate everything to fit on a paper. This took hours. With AutoCAD, we get to work in real scale and can import …
Chose AutoCAD LT
We used for a period Siemens 2D free cad.
while it have some things interesting, the learning curve was harder.
the interface was not easier like AutoCAD LT.
Chose AutoCAD LT
Although AutoCAD LT is the lite software when compared to standard AutoCAD, it does all the work when it comes to 2D modeling and issuing design drawings.
When comparing it to BricsCad, AutoCAD LT shines, as it works without freezing and is usually more responsive than …
Chose AutoCAD LT
AutoCAD LT can be used by non-engineers, but free programs are usually for professionals.
And other software started to introduce some tools that only AutoCAD LT had, so why waste time looking for what is fully found in AutoCAD LT.

Other products that have been used include Civil Designer and Model Maker for civil services. Other products for structural designs include aq product called "SEDA" These products are not included in the listings.
Chose Autodesk AEC Collection
I have most of my experience in Revit and AutoCAD from the Autodesk AEC Collection. We used SketchUp for a short period of time because of the low cost of the software, but features in Revit, like the analysis tools, scheduling, and more made things faster and gave a more …

It is suitable for use with students who are familiar with using a computer. Unfortunately, we still have many people without access and basic knowledge, such as a simple application of the oficce package.

Cons
  • Incremental savings (if possible) because autosave on big drawings took time to get done because it saves the whole file
  • Some custom macros that I made should be made standard (like infinite horizontal or vertical lines)

  • Revit is limited in its use for civil engineering and landscape architecture.
  • There are bugs due to the complex nature of the software.
  • Use of software requires the latest high-tech computers.

I gave a rating of 10 because, thus far, Autodesk AEC Collection Seems to be on the leading edge for what is required for the construction planning, implementation, and continued of real-world assets. Autodesk has been a great benefit for our organization and has allowed us to continue to improve not only ourselves but the people we work with. We have been using Autodesk AEC Collection for a number of years and hope to continue for a long time coming.

Usability
For being a light version of the program it has a ton of functionality and features. I found the system fairly easy to learn how to use once I took an intro course on it. Overall i think the usability is great and it was easy to jump right in and get working in the program

The software has a significant learning curve. You also must know and understand construction standards and codes. Each member of our BIM team has spent 10+ years in construction and has had years of software training. The software also requires powerful computers to render the models. Without a BIM focused gpu and processor, the software will seem less usable when in reality, the computer is not capable of running the software properly

Although AutoCAD LT is the lite software when compared to standard AutoCAD, it does all the work when it comes to 2D modeling and issuing design drawings. When comparing it to BricsCAD, AutoCAD LT shines, as it works without freezing and is usually more responsive than BricsCAD, it just outclasses it.

Each of these pieces of software has a different use and focus. Some overlap with each other and some are components of Autodesk AEC Collection, such as Autodesk Fabrication CADmep. They are all well designed and powerful applications that help us with everything from planning to design and collaboration. We use all of them and will continue to explore other Autodesk products that may help our organization grow and accomplish more.

Return on Investment
  • We have been able to looks at CAD files that ordinarily we would not have been able to open. Giving us more control over our projects
  • We are now able to create very accurate draft designs that save us and our engineering/architecture team valuable time in drafting.
  • We can create our own plan sheets for when it is something that does not require a stamp. This saves us time and money.
