Everbridge IT Alerting vs. Grafana OnCall

Targeting people (or their SIM cards to be specific) in a specific area and warning them about a hazard in their neighbourhood is the intended use, and it executes that perfectly. In addition we have implemented the traveller alert where we can send messages to all Icelandic SIM cards present inside another Country (another Country code), and send them messages about f.ex. terrorist attack and provide guidelines about where they shoud seek assistance if needed. A slight minus here is that you can only address entire countries, where it might be useful to have next level of area codes.

One of the greatest drawback in any big companies is that different teams within an IT departments do not know what the others do. The worst case scenario is than Service Desk doesn't know where the issue resolution is and can not provide business with estimation recovery time as well as any update about the root cause of an issue. Grafana OnCall is the best tool that solved this misscolaboration in our company.

setting up the Grafana OnCall functionality is complex but if you setup this and you know how to setup then the rest is easy. IAC is provided with terraform The UI for the alert groups shows the alerts in one view and from there you can go to the relevant alert trigger to solve the problems.

The support team has been very supportive, but there is only so much they can do, and of course sometimes things take a bit too long for my impatience.

Grafana OnCall is integrated withini Grafana Cloud. We use this from one glass of view perspectief. One system , one UI to easy find the problems and solve them. It is also included in the Grana Cloud license, a single party with whom you do business and can receive discounts. we have switched from OpsGenie

• The government has the duty to equip itself with a mechanism to warn its people. It has allocated that duty to us, and we have chosen Everbridge to provide us the tool for that duty. It is very well suited to fulfill that role.

• we use the Grafana OnCall for single pane of glass, one internal tool integrated with alerts from the other functionality
