QuickBooks' interface is clunky, confusing, and slow. QuickBooks support is worse than if there were no support at all. FreshBooks' UI is clean, intuitive, and even when changes are rolled out, easy to quickly learn. Their support is second to none and never disappointed us.
FreshBooks does very well in comparison, especially since it is free software for Barclays bank users. Sage software is much worse than FreshBooks. However, Xero and QuickBooks, the market leaders, are still ahead with usability, additional features, reporting, and connection …
There is no fluff and feature overload with FreshBooks. I can get to what I need quickly and easily. I don't have to deal with unnecessary features and fields the system considers essential. The payment features are streamlined and have lots of flexibility when receiving …
In my experience, quickbooks customer service was terrible, and program was very complicated to use. We switched to FreshBooks to simplify day to day use.
FreshBooks is a relative novice compared to the giant Quickbooks application that has been around for years and it is established as the go-to app for account management and invoicing. I would say that in a few years, FreshBooks can become a threat to QuickBooks but it will …
We do not consider other options since our client wants the implementation of this platform in order to use it in the two countries where it has operations.
At the moment, full integration was not possible and we still share the information with a Mexican system to complete …
I selected FreshBooks because it combined Toggl, Harvest and Quickbooks features into a single system. This simple move allowed for me to save money on the tools and in turn bring all client data into a single portal.
FreshBooks is easy to use and automatically generates the …
FreshBooks is easy to implement and the onboarding process is straightforward. It has great user interface to navigate and any user can easily start using it. It also offers customization of the modules/reports. Most importantly invoice tracking is a great module. It is offered …
I looked at QuickBooks but they only had desktop products and I was interested in a hosted solution. Freshbooks has always been ahead of their competition in this area of mobile, on the go use cases where a modern platform can be used to stay up to date and accessible from …
We considered using Xero for our invoicing due to the more advanced accounting features but chose FreshBooks because it offered recurring payments. Xero did not offer this critical feature at the time of purchase. And since invoicing was our main priority, FreshBooks did a …
Freshbooks offers its finances in a secure and easy manner. they are also simple yet they can efficiently manage expenses, invoices, reports, and time tracking.
FreshBooks is an invoicing software that wants to do accounting. Xero is an accounting software that wants to do billing. Both are pretty solid at their core functionality, and weak on the other. However, it's a shorter step for Xero to add interest and recurring CC billing, so …
Years ago we started using FreshBooks and then decided to look for a less expensive option. After trying multiple solutions, we went back to FreshBooks and haven't looked back since. That was over 10 years ago.
No service can compete with their functionality, pricing, and …
The software we selected is because the learning curve is very kind. Once we draw the way we manage our business, we understand we have to make some changes in order to adjust to the new software. This software allows us to reflect every aspect of the business, costs and …
I really liked Wave Apps for a bit. It had some limitations, but I really like how easy it was to use and intuitive. Great pricing too. So I would recommend that over Freshbooks at this point for someone who is just getting started. Quickbooks is great for accounting. Super …
Don't get me wrong — I like Xero for accounting purposes. But Xero's invoicing isn't great. There's too many features I depend on that FreshBooks has that Xero just does not. I need to be able to take deposits, send automatic reminders, and create an extremely user-friendly …
FreshBooks is hands down the best software for collecting invoices, payments, tracking time and managing expenses we have ever used. I am an avid user and fan and have been and will continue to be. They are keen on the updates, on listening to customers feedback and making …
You have to know why you want to establish an online solution. Understanding what you want to accomplish will probably lead you to FreshBooks as it has the cleanest, simplest design going and it accomplished its tasks without being a burden.

I love that I can truly give an estimate on the spot and afterward transform it into a receipt. I can begin working with my customer instantly. It is similarly wonderful that I can do it anywhere and it incorporates with Stripe, which collects numerous monetary forms so we can …
Sage Accounting is better suited for smaller organisations with fewer transactions. The invoicing system of this piece of software is a superior tool, however. Sage HR is more commonly used for employees to access payslips and record things such as annual leave or overtime. …
Among the competitors, Sage 50 was the easiest to start working right off the bat and logical to build our payment and reconciliation process. Some competitors were difficult to set up in multi-computer mode, and it was challenging to obtain support that acknowledged …
Sage 50cloud Accounting is very user friendly and easy to use with simple functionality. Each area is self explanitory. i.e. for Customers, processing Invoices or Credits, Customer Statements and reporting. With the click of a button you have what you need.
Sage has more bells and whistles than other accounting software. Its robust set up allows clients to customize the settings to each organizations structure and needs. You don't find that in other accounting products. Sage can fit for any industry structure or size based on your …
I did not select Sage50, however, I do prefer it over Zuora. Sage 50 is in line with the easy manipulation of Quickbooks. Sage Intacct is best used for larger corporations whereas Sage 50 and Quickbooks are better tuned for smaller or mid-sized businesses.
I have used MAS 90 in the past. It was not as easy to use as Sage 50cloud Accounting (formerly 50 Accounting). MAS 90 did not perform as well by any means. MAS 90 seemed to have more screens and "clicks" to get the job done. Sage 50cloud Accounting (formerly Sage 50 Accounting) …
We selected Sage back in 2011 and the migration away from Sage is so difficult that we had to stay. I wish I could go back in time and switch to another vendor. Now we feel stuck and the fees are huge! They want a subscription for everything even though they add no reoccurring …
Offers a greater range of features, available on different platforms, more integration and cheaper than Sage but less popular and not a lot of accountants prefer it.
Sage 50 has a more professional operation to it, and transactions have to be reversed rather than just erased in QuickBooks. This leads to more confidence in the system when you are using it. I believe that you can do something like this in QuickBooks, but I have had trouble …
We didn't really consider any other software besides maybe doing everything in Excel. The thing with Excel though is that we would've had to configure all of the accounting rules so it would have taken a lot of time. Also, being a manual process, errors would have been a lot …
While QuickBooks is a great program, we found Sage to be a better fit for our company. QuickBooks does, however, offer more integration with other software applications and some even require QuickBooks to run.
I have used mainframe type programs with more bells and whistles than Sage 50. For what we do, that expensive software is a waste of money. Sage 50 is a solid program. I have used QuickBooks and they have online software that is an advantage. But it's not as good in ways an …
QuickBooks is the biggest competitor with our firm. I've mentioned before that Quickbooks is very simple and good for companies with a less competent accounting staff. Sage will require a little bit more training. But it is also easier than products like Dynamics GP which could …
I have used Navision in a Small to mid-size company and although it was massive it was also time consuming because it was module based. Custom Reporting for the overall view of the company was not regularly at your finger tips. Sage 50 has enough power and features to run the …
I have used Sage from the Business-works days and became familiar with the name and quality behind it. I have never used a non sage product since the advent of the PC

Sage One and QuickBooks Online can only support a micro-business. Microsoft Dynamics is too hard to use. Sage 50 is just right. Sage 100 is the big brother for the larger business needing more depth in the modules.
As we did the conversion almost 10 years ago it is hard to answer this question. At the time it was the ease of being able to produce both cash and accrual financial statements and reporting that led us to pick Sage.
FreshBooks is the perfect tool for businesses who have hundreds of clients and customers whom they invoice regularly. It removes the need to manually send invoices to clients and customers, by streamlining inputted information to create an automated invoicing system which keeps clients and customers up to date with their bills. It is also a great tool for managing expenses, especially for companies with different teams working on varying projects, ensuring these teams do not exceed the budget ceiling.
Sage is great for portability and exchange with external accountants as it is widely used and people will be able to read your data in. It's a very good and complete solution for a little business where one person can handle all of the accounting. I doubt that it scales well to large companies with several in-house accountants working at the same time.
FreshBooks is pretty intuitive to use. I did have some questions when I first started using the system, but it wasn't a long learning curve.
FreshBooks provides more capability than other billing applications such as PaySimple or BlinkSale. FreshBooks does provide an easy invoicing function. It's easy to create invoices that can be sent via email or snail mail to one or more individuals (for example, the decision-maker and the accounting dept). Clients can pay online or send a check and then I note that the payment has been received. If paid by credit card, the system automatically marks the invoice paid. Your business accounts such as bank accounts can be linked to FreshBooks. Then, the system can automatically draw in expenses and will create simple P&L reports, overdue invoices, client history, etc. If you don't have inventory and complex payroll, etc. FreshBooks provides just the right level of capability to make financial tracking simple.
FreshBooks integrates with a number of credit card companies. I use Stripe, which has fees similar to Paypal, but much more reliable processing. I can accept all credit cards, including American Express, for a reasonable fee.
I like the automated guides to set up complex features of payroll formulas.
The business intelligence reporting seems very comprehensive, so that one could really "crunch the data" and analyze different aspects of their business.
Sage annually improves the performance and features of their program.
Pricing structure is very poor for us. $10/user per month when we have staff that comes and goes. And it's impossible to change a free contractor to a paid staff and vice-versa. This is my biggest complaint.
They only allow one admin owner user. Emails must come from that account. This is annoying, as other staff cannot log in with the same power.
The user interface is quite dated. I've made recommendations to improve it and all have been ignored. It's skinny and not fluid. Also, there is no way to link between invoices and clients.
The out of the box reports are not appealing and take a bit to clean up during the end of the month. The set up of the reports can be quite tedious and not very intuitive. They need to do a better job of adding the drop and drag tool in a more visible way so that it is easy for the end user.
Sage needs to add the ability for the users (in a controlled environment) to manipulate the look and feel of the input screens. It gives you minimal options to add fields to certain areas.
The help feature does not have the "google" type of intelligence that allows you to search on phrases. If it is not exact, it does not do a very good job of filtering through items that you really don not need. I have used more of the internet searches to figure out my problem because it wasn't easy to pull up the help option in Sage.
At the current needs of our business, FreshBooks suits us perfectly - it allows online access by our accountant to the system for GST purposes, easy input of expenses and tracking of Profit and Loss statements. FreshBooks customer service is great as well - very understanding and accommodating.
I use this rating simply because I have a thriving Sage 50 consulting practice and will continue to keep my expertise in the product. I have consulted on both Sage 50 and QuickBooks for over 25 years so I have to maintain expertise in the solution as well as accounting and verticals.
It is well-built software with no significant drawbacks. It offers all the necessary futures expected from online software. However, it is not yet up there with Xero and QuickBooks regarding connections with other software and advanced reporting features. The developers work closely with accountants, and therefore, I expect further development of the software.
I think Sage 50 is a trusted product and is reliable from a product delivery and support perspective. They have deep domain expertise in the non-profit space and should be a consideration for new non-profit startups or existing non-profits looking to migrate from other platforms. Overall, I believe that Sage 50 does many things well with few limitations.
I think the support level for FreshBooks is on par with a 6 because the folks behind this application do a fairly good job at providing support for their customer base. I still don't think they are at an elite level when it comes to supporting but are getting there although too slow in my opinion.
The support from Sage is quick, easy to understand and always relevant. They are very responsive to queries and this enables us to have very little down time if the product does fail for whatever reason. Having someone on the end of the phone who can solve your issues is invaluable.
Sage 50 is a strong accounting software package. It will work efficiently if it is installed correctly. If one puts garbage in, one will get garbage out. Also it is important to train the staff to use Sage 50 properly. It is also important to set up security for each user.
There is no fluff and feature overload with FreshBooks. I can get to what I need quickly and easily. I don't have to deal with unnecessary features and fields the system considers essential. The payment features are streamlined and have lots of flexibility when receiving payments. I love FreshBooks support, and it is 100 more customer-friendly and easier to work with than its primary competitors from my experience.
Sage Accounting is better suited for smaller organisations with fewer transactions. The invoicing system of this piece of software is a superior tool, however. Sage HR is more commonly used for employees to access payslips and record things such as annual leave or overtime. Sage Intacct is likely a more practical solution for a larger organisation with a higher volume of transactions.
I define scalable from two perspectives; 1) the scalability to handle more bookkeepers/accountants using the product, and 2) the scalability to handle increasing customer/vendor/employee and transactional data. Sage 50 does a good job on both fronts. From the single users operating a micro-business accounting for customer invoices and bill payments only, to the multi-staff, multi-location, multi-departmental complex transactional operation. Although Sage 50 is quite expensive for that smallest user, it is quite inexpensive for the larger business entity. So, for the new enterprise expecting rapid growth, Sage 50 is the application of choice.
Since implementing FreshBrooks, 80% of invoices created are paid in less than 30 days from the time the invoice is sent via email to the client. Prior to FreshBooks, we were mailing or hand-delivering our invoices and payment on those invoices was in the 45-90 day range.
Time tracking is done directly in FreshBooks (or through a plugin that's connected directly to FreshBooks) and is very easy to use. With this feature we're much better able to track all business activities. This has helped us to quantify the time we're spending on non-billable business-related work in addition to our billable client hours. We've been able to adjust our pricing accordingly, as well as being more efficient with our non-billable activities.
When FreshBooks online payments is set-up in your account, payments made with this method are automatically sent to your bank account. We choose between FreshBooks payments and PayPal payments in order to manage how much money stays in the PayPal account for online expenses vs. how much is transferred directly to the bank account.
It has allowed for more emphasis on sales than data entry which has allowed the Wholesale division to grow
The "On Screen" credit status on the Sales Order feature has given the capability to free up inventory for paying Customers which increased Turnover, while keeping Past Due to a minimum
The Reporting has allowed for yearly, prior year and Budget Variance Reporting for the Sales Reps so they can stay or target
The Inventory Reporting and Receiving keeps a grasp on damaged based on Lots received which helps to notify the Parent company of production issues and monitor shrinkage
The Credit with Job and RGA capability give a clear view of which Customer are having warehouse issues or if we are having Freight Carrier issues
