Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ADP SmartCompliance for handling our garnishments (from answering interrogatories, to keeping us compliant, and sending all payments to the agency or the government body). This really takes the stress of knowing the complex laws regarding garnishments out of the equation. We can rely on ADP to handle the wage garnishments timely and accurately to ensure we aren't leaving ourselves liable.

We have several employees with numerous types of garnishment orders. Using SmartCompliance, ADP determines which orders take precedent over the others, how much to withhold for each order, and sends information and payments to the correct agency.

Smart compliance handles all of my agency notices, filings and reporting, along with full service wage garnishments. This saves me time on a regular basis from having to investigate each notice received, and processes and sets up any changes, and keeps my company compliant with the ever changing industry updates.

We use Smart Compliance to upload all garnishments, child support, levies, etc. This also pulls our Wire confirmations and tax information after each payroll. Check on tax issues that ADP is working on for us.

Pros

  • It keeps us updated on what's going on with our tax issues by sending us notifications when an update is needed.
  • It Sends me the Invoices for the pay groups per pay period.
  • Able to see the tax filings done and sent to the agencies.

Cons

  • Does not close out an SR without sending us an email first.

Likelihood to Recommend

Great with getting our tax filings done without us having to worry about it. I feel that sometimes it takes too long to handle the ones with issues.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize ADP SmartCompliance for the payroll tax and garnishment services. ADP files our payroll tax returns on our behalf as well as researches tax notices that come in from agencies. We knew that we did not have enough internal staffing resources to complete these tasks on our own, so we looked to ADP who we had worked with in the past.

Pros

  • Easy to find tax records to locate previously filings ADP completed on our behalf
  • Quarterly exceptions help us identify issues early so we are able to review and correct them as needed before closing the quarter.
  • Easily able to open a help request for our account manager and are very happy with the new ability to add on others in our company to a request case.

Cons

  • Does not accept screen shots from agency websites nor emails that come from agencies directly as tax notices to be researched. Sometimes the only correspondence we receive regarding a balance due or further details is via these methods, so it is frustrating when ADP rejects them when we request they are researched as a tax notice.
  • Tax Notice cases are often closed without waiting for confirmation from the agency that the issue has been resolved. This often leads to additional notices, penalty, and interest assessments which is frustrating.
  • Reports can be difficult to read/understand and require a nuanced level of understanding that the average person outside of ADP would not possess.

We love our account manager Joanne Renova who goes above and beyond to make sure that we are well prepared for quarter and year end. She is the reason we are enjoying our experience with ADP thus far.
SmartCompliance itself is fairly easy to navigate and has a lot of resources/links available to help & further knowledge.

My organization Uses ADP for Payroll as well as benefit enrollment and updates as needed. The website is simple and friendly to use. I have not encountered any issues with making changes or trying to look at my pay history. Everything is simple and fast to find a correct tab to access the proper information desired.

ADP SmartCompliance is utilized by my company to issue service request and updates to user accounts. It is a very useful tool because it offers a centralized location to make a request, update information to a request and to view the process on completion of a service order. I think it is a very useful tool and make it easier to get the help you need.

ADP SmartComplaince is well suited for teams, it allows you to collaborate with your team members on similar issues. It allows you to follow the process to resolving the issue. It also provides a centralized location to locate a service order and view updates on the service requests. It is less appropriate for a project level request.

ADP SmartCompliance Wage Garnishment Module

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Wage Garnishment, Employment Tax, Wage Solutions, and Invoicing. In my role, I use Wage Garnishment. We utilize Workday which does not have a garnishment processing feature. We use ADP to process all our garnishments and interface with Workday. I was not involved in the decision- making process to use ADP Smart Compliance for our Wage Garnishments.

Pros

  • Weekly meetings with our Wage Garnishment rep
  • Feature Overview webinars to ensure we are utilizing SmartCompliance to its full potential.
  • Timely processing of refunds

Cons

  • Reporting: while there are many useful reports for Wage Garnishments it would be amazing if we could create our own custom reports. Sometimes the reports provided have either too much or too little information. We aren't able to modify them to our needs or to create our own which can be frustrating at times.
  • Invoicing: the coding used on the invoicing make it difficult to reconcile with the Wage Deductions/Withholdings. We had to manipulate and translate the data in an attempt to reconcile. Ultimately, we stopped using the invoices for reconciling and began using the disbursement reports, which work better to reconcile the disbursements with the deductions. However, it is still difficult to determine the accuracy of the invoicing due to the coding.
  • A daily report for the client's inbox of garnishments that were electronically received by ADP so we can be aware of them and monitor accordingly.

Likelihood to Recommend

For the most part, ADP SmartCompliance Wage Garnishment interfaces well with Workday making it a good option for clients on Workday. Our company has multiple entities, pay frequencies, and nuances making the behind-the-scenes technical makeup complex. Our company is continually changing and growing resulting in multiple tweaks to our setup. This is not without its hiccups and glitches.

ADP SmartCompliance is our great ally, they help us keep track of garnishment, employment tax, whether it is our quarterly filing or agency notices, and pay cards. This tool has helped us be more efficient in our everyday because we can delegate these responsibilities while we focus on other payroll related responsibilities.

Whenever we are having issues with state taxes ADP comes in handy resolving this for us so we can delegate the responsibility over. Also, whenever we need to pay our employees through the pay cards it is easier and safer to work with ADP to obtain a Paycard and provide it to our employees.

ADP SmartCompliance ensures I am tax compliant in all the states we have employees in. Uses ADP SmartCompliance we are always up to date on employment tax changes and they handle all our filings. Without the use of ADP SmartCompliance managing all the various states would be cumbersome.

Cons

  • Difficult phone communication when calling in. Language barrier and not fully understanding local/state laws. Calls also sound like they are underwater.
  • Notes on cases sometimes are vague and there isn't an option to ask questions.

Likelihood to Recommend

ADP SmartCompliance is great at walking you through setups of new states, less helpful in the local tax area. Many times I myself have to call the local area to finalize the setup. They are very helpful when it comes to responding to state and federal inquires and I do lean on them for advice when I have had situations.
