Use Cases and Deployment Scope

DonorSearch has been a very useful tool for our organization in helping us navigate our donorbase and searching for new ones. It's user-friendly interface is simple to navigate and easy to teach others on our team to use. Very reasonably priced compared to it's competitors and the support staff is readily accessible for assistance.

Pros

Provides donor insight at a high level.
Easy to use interface and system.
Customer service is top notch and very responsive.

Cons

Ability to do a search without an actual address and utilize a P.O. Box would be nice.
Connecting of information with LLCs.

Likelihood to Recommend

When doing research, it's been very helpful to see real estate ownership along with SEC holdings in one spot which has been helpful in leads. However, with the real estate, at times it doesn't match the names on the property records which adds an additional step on my end to complete.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use DonorSearch to get a scope on those who are currently donating to my organization or who may plan to in the future. I am able to get a great breadth of information on wealth, real estate assets, current and previous giving, and personal interests. Often, a DonorSearch page will include someone's LinkedIn, where I can get a sense of their career trajectory too.

Too many names included even when the correct address has been provided for the initial query
Not providing total clarity about DonorSearch specific definitions
Providing too much info from low-quality profiles

Likelihood to Recommend

I would say DonorSearch is well suited as you set out to build donor profiles. I think there are excellent background information on spouses, addresses, real estate holdings, giving priorities, etc. I also like it for grant research - you can find funders who may be interested in your philanthropic priorities and occasionally what those timelines are. I would not suggest using this for absolute strangers to your organization - too much to work through.
