We offer a wide array of mid-to-high end fire pits, patio furniture, patio heaters, fireplaces, umbrellas, and more - all online since 2007. We have always valued our customer interactions and made the investment into text messaging both for sales and customer service reasons back in 2020, first with Postscript and then with Emotive. <b>Postscript</b> performed quite well, but it was a bit expensive and their management team wasn't really helping us progress further, so we decided to make the switch to <b>Emotive.io</b>. They had much better pricing and, what seemed to be, a fairly competitive platform that integrated quickly into our site.

At the beginning, Emotive was helpful and worked to get our account online. And that's about where they stopped...although we had access to the platform and made efforts to improve our text campaigns, our signup list remained flat month after month. Within 9 months of service, we couldn't even add 2000 new subscribers! This caused us to look at other competitors in the SMS space that could push better results.

That's when we found <b>Attentive</b>! Wow, they are night and day! We've gotten more new subscribers with Attentive in 60 days than we did in 9 months with Emotive!! Clearly we made the right switch!

What really bothers me is that our account is still active and Emotive will not make arrangements to exit the agreement, even though the account performs terribly. I reached out to them and asked for accommodation, but none was given. The told me it was their "right" to enforce the agreement despite the poor performance and they will not budge.

That's fine, we understand Emotive's position. We will make sure to let all perspective SMS buyers know that Emotive was an absolute waste of time and money.

<b>My recommendation to you is to SKIP Emotive. Poor customer service and even worse results. Check out Attentive. They were half the price and performed 10x better! </b>

We used Emotive.io for our SMS marketing -- from signups to opt-in, to segmented broadcast messages, to automated conversations. We used integrations with Shopify, JustUno, Klaviyo, and Gorgias.

Pros

  • Our first account manager was responsive
  • Our first account manager was knowledgeable
  • At the time, Emotive features were competitive.

Cons

  • After investing many hours to build segmented automated flows, in my experience, the flows did not work and tech support was unable to diagnose them.
  • The responsive team we had was replaced with a new team that was indifferent to our issues. This included our Account Manager and her superior. Customer Support was responsive but unable to correct the technical problems.
  • It appeared the company was experiencing churn. High turnover. Apathy.
  • We initially saw growth in options and sales . Over several months, growth stagnated.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Emotive.io as our sole SMS marketing partner to reach customers via text message. Before bringing on Emotive, the only CRM channel that was being utilized for the D2C was email marketing which was starting to experience a downshift in engagement due to the overcrowding of sales emails that customers tend to receive on a daily basis.
