What is F5 Secure Web Gateway Services?

F5 Secure Web Gateway Services verifies endpoint integrity before and after users connect to the web. The web access gateway secures against both inbound and outbound malware. With URL categorization and filters, users can allow, block, or confirm and continue access to sites and applications, on a user-by-user basis. With F5 Secure Web Gateway Services, users can gather content- and context-aware data, then process it using malware analytics tools, to detect patterns that indicate complex attack vectors, like advanced persistent threats (APTs). F5 Secure Web Gateway Services can connect to a cloud-based threat intelligence system that monitors web and social media content. By processing up to five billion content requests daily, it analyzes a substantial amount of current data to proactively predict, locate, and identify the latest threats.

F5 Secure Web Gateway Services Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Normally our customers are using, we start with the department of it, not good security, and then we come from a requirement cybersecurity because they want to be able to balance as well as to have some sort of proxy throughout the web that actually protects and that's when the cyber security team hops in and becomes part of the requirement. So the problem that we're trying to face is that they're trying to solve is to have a compound solution that actually sold many issues in one and it becomes a good bundle price invoice.

Pros

  • I would rather say simplicity because the people that use F5 normally are IT guys more than cybersecurity guys and it's easier for us as cybersecurity teams for the IT regular guy to adapt cybersecurity with F5. If we do it the other way, approach from, this is some cybersecurity product and then the IT guy comes in, it's actually more complicated, but F5 makes it easier for them because normally these the guys are managing the assets.

Cons

  • You're into cybersecurity only F5 hold shirt and a little bit of details and specs that other competitors have. Like for instance, a granularity of policies and stuff, menus and configurations. The UI is very natural to use but also has its limits depending on how many settings you can put up. So I would say that that's a main issue with VFI. But other than that, if you're buying it for other reasons then it's not a problem.

Return on Investment

  • I mean it's very easy to work with F5. The commercial team is very open. They're always willing to help you. There is a lot of competitors in my niche, but I've never found a stubborn doing business with you guys, so I would glad to recommend doing business with and from the customer perspective, they was very attentive. Their response time is fair and I've never seen anyone complaining about not being able to have support from F5 and that's great.
