IBM MaaS360 with WatsonX - solid as a rock

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are an IBM distribution Partner and we offer IBM MaaS360 to our MSP Partners.

We also use IBM MaaS360 internally for our own in house devices that we use each and every single day - like cell phones, tables as well as workstations. This helps to keep the devices as well as our digital environment secure.

Pros

  • Secure your devices across different OS
  • Allows you to enroll devices as company owned as well as user owned (BYOD)
  • IBM MaaS360 allows very granular settings via the policies

Cons

  • In some cases a simplified version would make things easier
  • Re-enrollment without factory reset would be appreciated
  • Better communication of product changes

Return on Investment

  • Compliance has been improved quite a bit since mobile devices are enforced with specific policies that are applied to devices, users or groups

IBM MaaS360 on hosted cluster in ocp

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

installation in an open shift hosted cluster is not working out of the box.

air gapped installation ist not documented. images are missing or not aware of. It should be used as operator and operator catalgog as source .

it is not behaving as a container application, as it needs much local storage on the kubernetes nodes, it should use pvc.

Cons

  • complete openhsift operator
  • catalog sources for images and airgapped installation

Return on Investment

  • right now, its not running

IBM MaaS360

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use this software as an MDM. Placing devices into Kiosk Mode. Remote Trouble Shooting. Location Tracking. Without this product our tablet would be unlocked. This would ultimately leave us vulnerable if a driver were to go to a website or use an app that may put personal information at risk. Restricting the tablets through the MDM gives the company a piece of mind, knowing there is no risk for this.

Pros

  • Locks our company issued tablets into a Kiosk Mode
  • Allows Remote Trouble Shooting
  • Allows Location Tracking

Cons

  • Allowing more flexibility for the Kiosk Mode
  • Remote trouble shooting may not always work
  • Commands do not always complete in a timely manner

Return on Investment

  • We see time being saved by providing our team the necessary tools on a company issued device.
  • We are able to see when a user has last used their company issued device vs their personal device.
  • Pushing new software is easy when implemented using the MDM.

MDM solutions- IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson is the defacto MDM we recommend to our customers

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are both a mobility reseller and a security consultancy for a large number of organizations. Specific to security, our customers have a wide list of mobile device usage requirements which present a vast array of security concerns as it relates to the protection of IP, Regulatory compliance, and control of business-focused usage during the work day.

As such, it is our job to present resolutions to these challenges, which are addressed both by written policy and the implementation of an MDM solution.

Pros

  • Properly configured workflows make for easy ongoing management and tweaks to the management of enrolled mobile devices
  • Granular functionality which can be used to address many complex configuration requirements
  • Best in Class support and product education resources by comparison to competing MDM solutions.

Cons

  • In dashboard help verbiage
  • Simpler customization for white label items
  • Better support for windows o/s devices

Return on Investment

  • This has become a significant part of our solutions portfolio we provide to our customers.
  • We have increased over all revenue derived directly from services related to IBM Security MaaS360 with Watson by 400% over the past 4 years.
  • Finding the correct distributor to work with is mandatory. We had serious issues with the prior distributor as compared to our current one.
