Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using it for improving user experience. It offers smart routing which helps sites to be reliable and performance got improved. In my organization use case it was huge traffic and it was very necessary for system to be responsive all the time.

Pros

  • Routing based on user location
  • endpoint switching based on latency
  • DNS response time

Cons

  • User Experience - Please make it more easy to use for Admins
  • Also add some more details in the reference documents
  • Try if they can offer a monitoring tool

We use IBM NS1 Connect for external DNS and HTTP/HTTPS redirects. The ability to have a diverse secondary DNS server is also key. It has been a solid platform for us and we have not experienced any significate issues.

  • The secondary DNS has added a layer of redundacy.
  • The price just ok, but it is competitive.
  • The billing for overages are a pain in the ass. Need to be able to expand on the fly.
  • Some way to identify Orphan records or Dangling DNS.

IBM NS 1 Connect manages the DNS service used in the packaging industry to optimize application performance and improve network resilience. It also enhances the user interface. For me, the most valuable feature is geo-based server routing. I love this feature.

  • Routing the base location of the user.

  • Some aspects need to be optimized for performance.
  • All is well, I didn't feel too much lag.
  • A little bit can improve security.

It addresses the automation challenges that we come across when working with tools like SNOW and need reliable service delivery across all the environments.

  • Learning materials depicting flows that can help users who are completely new to networking
  • Pricing can be more transparent
  • I feel UI is a bit complex to adapt, especially for new users, it should be made more intuitive
