Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use inriver PIM as our one source of truth for all of our product information across multiple brands, categories, countries and languages. inriver PIM also connects to our existing platforms including the ERP system, DAM (digital asset management) system, CMS (content management system) and syndicates or creates templates for key customers and accounts.

inriver PIM is well suited for growing companies that might have multiple brands, categories, languages and a complicated data model. inriver PIM is more than a syndication service, which is important to differentiate from other so-called PIM providers. I specifically like the ability for ecosystem collaboration across multiple technology platforms. However, inriver, is a complicated system and requires an implementation partner, which could price it out of the range for some companies.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The inRiver PIM is used to gather & marry the ERP basic SKU information with enriched attribution, description, and assets to allow for a more polished representation online.

Pros

Query function is quite robust
Job processing in tandem with current work is seamless
Friendly UI
Dual workspace is extremely helpful

Cons

Missing the ability to be able to right click an item/product to open in a new tab
Mass Asset/SKU management is not an out-of-the-box feature
Shared folders area - few options to create a specialized area that you can block other users from deleting

Likelihood to Recommend

inRiver [PIM] is pretty easy to use. I can see a company with a more narrow product selection benefiting from this PIM. The challenge comes with the more SKUs and categories the company offers. Without our 3rd party implementor creating specialized imports for us, we would be having a difficult time managing mass data updates.
