Jira Work Management - Iffy For Marketing Teams

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our marketing team has used Jira Work Management to project manage the creation of deliverables for marketing campaigns. The tool is used among teams in one business unit to organize work, repeat regular tasks, and communicate about ongoing projects.

Pros

  • Repeatable tasks
  • Kanban approach to organized work
  • Commenting and collaboration

Cons

  • Task updates are manual
  • Lacking automation and AI-driven features
  • Limited flexibility in an administrator-led instance

Return on Investment

  • For our marketing team, Jira Work Management caused us to lose valuable work time due to manual updates that could have been automated.
  • Due to lack of creative review tools within Jira Work Management, our team had to pursue other tools that do not integrate with Jira Work Management, thus creating additional OpEx.

Complicated and simple all in one

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My company uses Jira Work Management to list content tasks, epics and bugs all in one place, this allows us to easily alert the team of issues that can be resolved, then pass those onto quality assurance once fixed. With out it, communication surrounding software development would be chaos. Multiple projects are managed through this software, meaning a release timeline and time can be planned to complete the work.

Pros

  • Bug and issue listing
  • Content tasks and epics, showing everything with a progress bar
  • Deadline planning
  • change list management

Cons

  • Allow me to easier get to the kanban board
  • Make a windows app
  • teams integration

Return on Investment

  • Better communication
  • Increased timely bug fixing
  • more accurate time tracking of tasks

Jira Work Management is right for you if Implemented correctly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Jira Work Management is used to track Engineering requests that come from Support, or other parts of the business when interfacing mainly with customer issues and we need either engineering or a technical architect to help with the problem. We try to include as much details as possible, including screen shots to hopefully shorten the time span of getting resolution.

Pros

  • Interacting between Jira Work Management and communications tools to provide updates on ticket
  • Allow the addition of customer names affected by an issue
  • Tagging users in comments/responses

Cons

  • The search tool, at times, doesn't work as well as one would hope

Return on Investment

  • If you don't have anything, you need something and Jira Work Management can be that if implemented well.
  • Ensure you set expectations from the start to keep Jira Work Management clean, tidy and organized.
  • If possible, conduct periodic audits.
