SAP Digital Manufacturing is being used to ease the operations for the user. When it was internally implemented in one of our factory it would help us to improve the performance. We have connected to machines and we have executed multiple demos in our system. These industry specific demos help us to convince our customers on the features available in SAP Digital Manufacturing.

We use SAP S/4 Hana as our ERP system. We implemented SAP Digital Manufacturing on 4 plants. SAP Digital Manufacturing connects our S/4 with the shop floor systems and helps with the shop floor execution and the data collection.

Cons

  • There are many gaps in reporting and insights. MDOs do not have the fields that we are looking for
  • No triggers to time based data collection by operators
  • No ability to track the status of data collections
  • No good way to use the back up resources

Return on Investment

  • As it is cloud based product, quarterly upgrades impacts the production and needs effort and resources for testing
  • Product is not fully matured. It still has bugs
