What is SAP HANA Cloud?

SAP HANA is an application that uses in-memory database technology to process very large amounts of real-time data from relational databases, both SAP and non-SAP, in a very short time. The in-memory computing engine allows HANA to process data stored in RAM as opposed to reading it from a disk which means that the data can be accessed in real time by the applications using HANA. The product is sold both as an appliance and as a cloud-based software solution.

SAP HANA is an in-memory database model which serves as platform for running various applications. The applications can range from organization specific tools like CRM, Successfactor, Asset maintainence, PMS, HRM, Logistics, Planning, etc. The Problems catered by SAP HANA are as below: 1) It provides a database platform where the applications like ERP, various tools run faster than the ones oraganization has used previously. 2) It provides environment for users to run high-speed transactions. Earlier users reported lag in the applications and the reports fetched from support used to be a tedious task.

We migrated from SAP ECC and other non-ERP legacy systems to SAP S4 HANA and with this, we improved the performance of our system due to in-memory database. Real time processing of data is a big value add to our organization. SAP also offers different Cloud deployment options which helps organizations to choose the model that suits their requirement.
