Currently, my company is using Social Mention to analyze campaigns and their performance. Social Mention helps you to find the real-time count of your brand mentions and tags in social media like twitter, facebook and others. Since Facebook and Twitter have the largest number of users, these mediums are a great platform to run campaigns and promote your brand, but it is difficult to track the performance where Social Mention helps and analyze the future predict of the campaign performance.

Pros

Keeps real time data tracking of campaign and brand performance
Predict future performance
One can analyse which campaigns and marketing to be done in future to increase sales.

Cons

As it keeps real time data track, it also tracks old campaigns data searching keywords which is wrong and gives wrong analysis.
Not reliable. But can use it for benefit of campaigns and analyse which campaigns to run.

Social Mention is a great tool for monitoring social media. This Tool can also be used to search specifically taking the keywords in the blogs, comments, news etc. It offers a third party API for users. It can be used to send email to clients of their brand performance data. This tool can indicate if your mentions are angry, happy or neutral but the data can't be reliable.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In a quick snap, you can get a response for your marketing on social media, how your brand is doing, types of people who are interested in your brand, number of tags, number of mentions of your brands, campaigns etc., which helps you decide for future calculations and work. This software gives a magical number to show your client or yourself how your company name or campaign is rising/falling.

Pros

Can predict future response from today's number.
Let's you judge which types of campaigns to run.
Has a very well managed dashboard of results.

Cons

The numbers usually we get are not always what we want; it also includes old or other new campaigns and brands names.
Limited facility under free dashboard.

Social Mention lets you know negative or positive posts and their count. Sentiment analysis using key words is best to know how people are reacting to your posts and campaigns. It is also good for brand management. It has a mailing system to send results to clients and your boss. It supports multiple social media panels like Twitter, Facebook etc., which is also a plus point which allows you to get every result in a single dashboard.

1. Tracking of social media mentions, tags, campaigns on every social media platform which matters.
2. Search and analysis platforms which gives real-time data analytics of how much your campaigns, brands impacts and how much a word is used in posts all over social media.
3. Aggregates user-written content from across social media panel into a single platform of information.

Pros

Assembles result in one platform from all over social media.
Tracking of brands and campaigns impact over users. how much it is retweeted, liked and others. Difficult to scrape manually which social mentions solves very easily.
Social Mention supports monitoring more than 50 media panels including Facebook, Twitter etc.

Cons

Under the "Free" dashboard you are limited to only receiving weekly results.
Can't negate those tags which contain my tags.
Lots of tweets missing, no noise filtering. Sometimes we get very old contents which are not needed.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you are curious about what someone is saying about your brand, this tool helps you to know how your brand is performing on all social media sites. Also seeing the previous results you can predict future performance. This data helps a lot in the future planning. This tool doesn't give perfect results though. Also, it can indicate your sentiments of mentions if they are angry, or happy.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Social Mention to look up certain keywords in tweets. I wanted to see the content my client was being associated with and how many tweets I could find on a specific PR initiative. The sentiment tool helped me see how my client was perceived on social media.

Pros

It grabs key words from tweets and lets you see the frequency of those tweets in real time.
It's basic and easy to use. I mainly used it for Twitter; however, it helps with Facebook searches too. Finding Facebook content without Social Mention was harder because you cannot search directly on the Facebook platform; Social Mention grabs all the content into one place.
The number of "unique authors" was especially helpful in providing me with more insight about my client in social media.

Cons

I was never able to find where I could search only Twitter or only Facebook - that could be helpful.

Likelihood to Recommend

I mostly use it for monitoring my clients and how they're being perceived on social media. It's hard to search on these platforms by yourself and you would never be able to create a credible analysis on sentiment or strength of the content around your keywords without a tool like this. It makes monitoring easier and less time consuming.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have taken the liberty of using Social Mention for researching sentiment about my brand and to see what consumers are saying. It is useful to see what buzz is being said about your brand, positive or negative. It is a great tool to feed various social networks all in one site. It is also useful to see what key terms are being said about your brand or product so that you can use those same keywords on your own site.

Find sentiment of online buzz for your product/service/brand
Monitor many different online websites that are talking about your brand all in one place
Find keywords that are being used by consumers when they think of you

Likelihood to Recommend

Social Mention is not for a specific scenario nor does it have a time to be more appropriate than others. Streaming all of your brand's online buzz, calculating what is being said, seeing what age/who is talking about your stuff and what they are saying and associating with is always something you should know, need to know and can use.

Pros

Filters the firehose of social media data that inundates everyone worldwide daily.
Allows topic-based email alerts (the best feature of all).
Provides positive/negative sentiment and hashtags.

Cons

It has problems sub-filtering keywords by sentiment or by source.
It has no advanced features in the API addressing the problems with sub-filtering keywords by individual source (like "LA Times" or "Huffington Post").
When I search, I will get results by default in multiple languages.
It doesn't provide the power of Moreover for filtering content sources and outputting the results through API.

Pros

Social Influence: Finds all the mentions on our brand throughout the internet
Reduces Social Mistakes: Helps us find and respond to inquiries/comments about our brand - which can be difficult when there are multiple mentions.
Scorecard: Helps keep score of the online passion for your brand.

Cons

Filtering - better filtering of unrelated brand info. i.e. we are only interested in @accav items from the US - not from overseas

Likelihood to Recommend

How much time do they have to devote to monitoring the brand online? How serious are they about monitoring the brand and what other tools are they already using? Would it be helpful to have all the social media mentions in one place? And, most important is their name, or handle unique enough that social mention will pull only mentions about them. For instance Bob's Plumbing would probably get a lot of extraneous info.

Pros

Social Mention does a great job of in-depth searching the internet for mentions of your subject.
Social Mention accurately records time of last mentions.

Cons

The absence of Social Mention alerts is disappointing. It was a great function.
Sometimes, Social Mention pulls up hits that are not particularly what I was searching for--even when using advanced search. It's hard to sift through all the hits.
