Trend Vision in a School Setting

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Trend Vision One Endpoint Security on all our Windows workstations in my school district. We use the product as our malware/antivirus software and as an EDR. I am able to use the dashboard to monitor our workstations and make sure everything is staying healthy and running smoothly.

Pros

  • Malware protection
  • Antivirus protection
  • Endpoint response

Cons

  • Malware scanning can be a little too strict at times preventing the use of needed files.
  • The EDR blocks secure browser connections that is needed for state testing.

Return on Investment

  • I don't have hard numbers, but the product does a great job of keeping us running and not having to worry about cyber-related issues.
  • The ROI is great since we are not spending time or money on costly cyber issues that arise from a lack of proper protection.

Trend Micro Apex One antivirus with powerful anti threats, including fileless and ransomware

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

After making an investigation about Trend Micro Apex One and figuring out that is the lightest antivirus in the market, other ones are a heavy solution and consume a lot of RAM and CPU, I have a problem with 40% of our desktop pc with low performance(disk, ram, etc).

Pros

  • Light performance consumption.
  • Accurate detection and take action quickly.
  • Storage logs on its events in order to received alerts about it and take action.

Cons

  • Replicate update to other devices.
  • Console with better interface.
  • Friendly interaction with core center (support, license, updates, etc).

Most Important Features

  • Alerts of a variety of threats including file less and ransomware.
  • Use single agents.
  • You can choose on-premise or SaaS options.

Return on Investment

  • ROI, comparative with others TrendMicro is most cheapest.
  • Trend Micro Apex One has the best threats weapon including files and ransomware.
  • Its has flexibility through both on-premises and SaaS deployment options.

Apex One delivers a exceptional product at an affordable price.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Apex One to protect our entire organization from virus/malware threats including potential ransomware attacks. We use it on both our business network along our automation network which is essential for revenue generation. We originally started with OfficeScan and have since upgraded to Apex One when it was released and the product has continued to evolve and grow with the ever-changing threat landscape. We rely heavily on the Behavior Monitoring portion of Apex One to keep our network safe from ransomware. Although it does create some false positives we can easily add the necessary exceptions (as needed) to keep our network safe. But in my mind, I would rather be safe than sorry. We also use the virus/malware scanner and integrated firewall inside of ApexOne and we notice little drain of system resources from the product. However, we do schedule system scans during the overnight hours to help offset any performance issues that may be seen on older computers but that can also be configured to pause scanning if CPU utilization exceeds 50%. Overall we have been very happy with Apex One and would highly recommend it.

Pros

  • Advanced threat protection including ransomware
  • Continuously updating product
  • Centralized endpoint management and deployment
  • Sleep well at night with piece of mind that my network is protected

Cons

  • More integrated reporting and alerts into the Apex One console without needing Central Server.

Most Important Features

  • Virus Protection
  • Firewall
  • Ransomware protection (Behavior Monitoring)
  • Web Filtering

Return on Investment

  • Very affordable
  • Easy to manage and deploy
  • Effective but light weight endpoint client

Alternatives Considered

Kaspersky Endpoint Security and Symantec Endpoint Security

Takes the worry out of being safe and covered

Pros

  • It does not eat up computer resources like other vendors do
  • Upgrades and patching seem to go well and are easy to apply
  • Software coverage is outstanding; peace of mind at the end of the day

Cons

  • Only thing I would have to say that's negative is the reporting aspect. Basic reporting is good but still lacks some details. This is a problem with many of the software vendors I have encountered in the past as well. Reporting is still much better than most.

Most Important Features

  • Virus scan is amazing
  • Spyware blocking works great
  • Device control--we use it to block people from inserting USB drives by default; we want to make sure we know what is being inserted and opened on PCs
  • We also use scan mail for email security and it works amazingly as well

Return on Investment

  • Saves time and money; gives us peace of mind that we are protected as much as possible
  • Being confident with and in the software and your systems is half the battle of staying safe
