A Fantastic Option to Train Users on Phishing

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it just in our department. We have utilized it for testing and actual use within the company as well. We mostly use it to resell to clients. We arrange a time to send out the phishing emails, and then see what the results are. This is followed by sending out the training.

Pros

  • There is great personalization with email format.
  • Great reporting to view participant progress.

Cons

  • The licensing model is not as geared toward temporary usage. Licenses are encouraged to be paid for constantly.

Likelihood to Recommend

It's perfect for helping train people on the dangers of phishing and what to look for. We've definitely seen a positive impact from before compared to after the training. I honestly can't think of a scenario where it wouldn't be appropriate. Phishing is dangerous to all employees of a company.

Webroot Security Awareness Training - Deceptively Simple, Wickedly Effective

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have implemented Webroot Security Awareness Training (SAT) across the entire firm, and also implement it for our clients. It has been an excellent product to determine the vulnerability of our/client staff members to phishing and other malware intrusion attempts, and has excellent training guides which has reduced recurrence by over 70%.

Pros

  • Test staff members with simulated phishing and malware emails/landing pages. Product has a very realistic payload.
  • Records detailed test results (delivered, read, click-thru's, etc) providing solid metrics to evaluate staff knowledge and track improvement over time.
  • Solid training videos that can be incorporated into landing pages explaining what the end user did incorrectly, and how to guard against such attempts in the future.
  • Other training collateral (posters, infographics, etc) that can be used by the client as teaching aids.

Cons

  • More industry-specific training modules, particularly those covered by federal and state data regulations.
  • Compact, graphic client/site reporting overview page (classic "Green-Yellow-Red" style) showing major areas for improvement, etc.

Likelihood to Recommend

We have found that it works well across many industries and platforms. I recommend that time be allocated for in-person training on an annual or semi-annual basis with staff to reinforce the lessons given online. Randomized followup tests scheduled monthly or quarterly are important to keep staff apprised of latest threat models and be looking for those who may need more intense personal training.
