Considered Both Products
Blackbaud eTapestry
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is more user friendly for all members of the department. You don't have to be as data-minded to understand the information you put in. The cost is also a huge factor in being the perfect option for smaller organizations. You can increase the number of …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Donor perfect is superior in all ways: reliability, ease of use, customer service, trainings, running reports, etc.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We choose Blackbaud eTapestry ten years ago because some of the above did not exist or they did not have the features such as credit card integration and direct email. We also liked the ease of use. To create queries and to run reports are easy and to create and run …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We use this suite of products in our entire division. It helps us with reports and donor management, and it is very helpful on a day-to-day basis. I enjoy the ease of use as well as the product offerings available. I would recommend using this in your development office.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I have not used anything like eTapestry where all the information is kept in one place. I have used other CRMs but financial information was always kept separately.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I very much prefer eTapestry to Raiser's Edge. I found the separation between the database and web view of Raiser's Edge very disorienting and didn't like having to switch back and forth between the two views to be able to complete certain tasks. I REALLY didn't like that a few …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
we were trying to consolidate eTapestry, our donation and event ticketing platform and our email marketing service. RE NXT would certainly have been an upgrade to eTapestry but did not offer the full functionality we were looking for.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I used and set-up Salesforce.com at a previous position and Blackbaud e-Tapestry is simpler to use 'out of the box' and has a much lower learning curve. My supervisor is looking at Raiser's Edge to replace e-Tapestry for the more premium features.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is the most customizable out of the other databases I have worked with, however, a solution like Bloomerang is easier for inexperienced database users.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We have researched 2-3 other donor platforms and we just aren't at a place to change, although we are very tempted. eTapestry is getting us by for now and we don't look forward to the day when we have to change platforms and have to change things for our monthly donors. We …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Network for good is significantly more cost-effective and overall more user friendly.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
ETAP presents a better format and seems more powerful. But LGL is more intuitive and has more flexible options.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
None. At this time, eTapestry provides what we need, with a little improvement needed. This is another question for the CEO & Founder.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
We have compared other products and also looked at supplemental software to integrate with our events and event management software. We have looked at many other products and there is not a one that does it all.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is a fully cloud based system, unlike Sumac, which means it can handle continuous multi-users in real time while remaining synchronous. Everything can be stored within the system, including documents that one needs such as granting or gift agreements. Easier …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
With the exception of Faith Direct, which we had prior to eTapestry, and is strictly a vehicle for donations (think PayPal, WePay, GiveCentral, etc) - some of the others did not exist or were even less relevant at the time we chose eTapestry (Donor Perfect). We were interested …
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I just ran comparisons in 2016, and E-tapestry was the program that fit us best.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I was not involved in the selection of Blackbaud eTapestry. However, in comparing it to my experience with Raiser's Edge, this program is more user-friendly despite the learning curve battle of the query and reports section of eTapestry.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I think constant contact is somewhat easier to use and has more graphic capabilities
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
I have used canvas from a students perspective and it is very easy to navigate, contact people and submit assignments.
Chose Blackbaud eTapestry
Blackbaud eTapestry is not as robust as Blackbaud Raiser's Edge. However, eTapestry provides strong value for the cost. It is much less expensive than using Raiser's Edge.

Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce.org Nonprofit Cloud is a much more robust and powerful tool than Slate. It is user friendly and very customizable. The number of add ons is also amazing and has made our team that much more successful with powerful integration of phone systems etc that are not …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
I looked at many but they were all specific. I've looked at specific donation-only tools like Blackbaud. I've looked at volunteer-specific tools like GivePUlse. I've looked a just using spreadsheets. None scaled or could connect between programs like SF can.
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce was complete and allowed for customization and has a team of experts available when we had questions. Access would have required complete creation and then finding someone to manage and revise it would have been difficult.
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
As a cloud native organization with no previous Microsoft infrastructure, Salesforce was a more logical and effective option for us. The suite of products was also far more comprehensive and required less customization. We were able to adopt a "configure not code" approach to …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
We used Zoho as a database before we knew we needed a CRM. We even thought of creating our own database. We then tried Neon for a couple of years and then eTapestry. We found a few features missing with each of the packages when trying to manage our complicated family …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
I have managed CRM technology on a variety of different products in my career, including Salesforce (NPSP), Salesforce (Sales Cloud), Nationbuilder, CiviCRM, Breeze, Hubspot. They all have strengths and weaknesses that I find compelling. Overall, they've all done the job! …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce is the best option for managing sales. Other software, such as Google sheets, has been used in the past to just create a simple sharable spreadsheet - but the data entered was inconsistent and it was difficult to track work in progress. Using Salesforce in this …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
DonorPerfect appeared to be a decent enough solution, fairly robust. eTapestry and NeonCRM left much to be desired from a UX standpoint. Ultimately, Salesforce would compare with solutions like Microsoft Dynamics, etc. since it's a well-rounded CRM solution and platform that …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce for Nonprofits allows for the essentials to run a full nonprofit whereas some of the other Salesforce applications are "nice to haves" vs. "need to have". An example would be that you can still email your customers without the Marketing Cloud. Another example would …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce is far more robust than these other tools, but it was built to be a sales platform and not specifically for nonprofits. Keep in mind that even the NPSP is built on a sales-style platform. The others are built specifically for nonprofit fundraising. My org chose …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
We use them in tandem and so they aren't really competing in my book. In my time here we have not tried out any other databases like salesforce so I cannot really speak to shopping around for a new database. I do know that Cvent, Mailchimp, and Salesforce are great partner …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce for Nonprofits is more user-friendly and customizable than eTapestry and DonorPerfect. It also visually displays client/donation/etc. information in a more efficient and aesthetically pleasing manner.
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
I believe Salesforce for Nonprofits far exceeds expectations compared to these other tools. It has more free add-ons and a cleaner user experience.
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
I have used other nonprofit CRMs, however, they were created especially for that nonprofit, so are not used more widely. We liked the innovation that was possible when using Salesforce, something that is a bit more challenging with the more custom options. For example, if your …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce is not as robust as Blackbaud, but the price point makes up for it in the end. When my company transitioned to Blackbaud, we had to take over a year of implementation and still have issues to this day. Salesforce was easy and worked like a charm in the first few …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce gives you so much more than Infusionsoft, though it is the closest thing that I've worked with that I can compare it to. Customization is quite limited in Infusionsoft, but it will give you your basic needs. I suppose it depends on what you're looking for!
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
Salesforce for Nonprofits is much more flexible than other tools I've used in the past. You aren't limited to staying with one company's suite of products - you have the ability to build out your database / fundraising solution using best in class applications. It also has a …
Chose Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
We reviewed all the mid-level options before we chose Salesforce. All the other options we looked at were eater very undefined and we woud be building from scratch or they were very defined and woud require our processes to change to match the system. Salesforce was the sweet …

As we are a small Foundation with only one Administrative Assistant, eTapestry is perfect for me to keep all of our CRM. Once I got used to how it worked, I found it to be user friendly. If I have any problems, I can either try to find the answer for myself in the extensive library, chat to support or email our Customer Service Representative with questions. I cannot fault either the Support team or Customer Service Representatives I have dealt with over the years as all of them have been knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I would prefer to have better options within the Email section as the templates are very basic. There is another option to use an eTapestry partner, but there are additional costs involved in that. The email templates are OK to use if you wish to send quick information to your database.

If you only want to track donations, I'd go with something simpler. If you want to track donations and programs and connections between them, there may be nothing better. If you have no technical abilities and no budget, restricted yourself solely to what it does as described exactly in the manual. If you can't devote about 0.25FTE to the constant maintenance and upgrades, don't go with it.

Pros
  • Report Scheduling is great. Reports can be scheduled daily (even on specific days of the week), weekly, or monthly) and auto-emailed.
  • Reports can be displayed on the screen, downloaded, or emailed in CSV, excel, or pdf and can have columns pre-sorted in your preferred order.
  • Online donations are automatically added to the donor's account and automatically create an account for a new donor.

  • Lots of connection points. I can associate a contact with an organization, an event and a donation, easily bouncing between them and pulling reports accordingly. Love this!
  • This system has many more features than we will ever actually use but I love that because when we have a new idea or want to try something out we don't have to switch systems, we just have to dig a little deeper into salesforce and they probably have a solution waiting for us already.
  • Salesforce is great at training! I love their trailhead and have used it a lot, especially when I was just getting to know the system. It is easy, fun, informative, and always there to teach me something new. I can also go at my own pace instead of many people's models of training through webinars that are almost always at inconvenient times.

Cons
  • You can't use the Back feature on your browser to return to the previous page.
  • You can't use it in more than one browser window to compare or analyze information
  • The query functionality is complicated and it is hard to get what you're looking for if you're not well trained.

  • Learning curve - very powerful, but takes time to learn
  • Batch processing - takes time and advanced skills to reach efficiency for data entry and certain operations which you want to do in batch
  • Mass email is extremely limited - must choose a third party tool which adds complexity and cost to the system

We do not always get positive solutions from Etapestry. There are a lot of resources and solutions that you can read about and reach out to. I participate in Community Forums and trainings to see what we can be doing differently.

There is really no other tool to compare and especially since Salesforce for Nonprofits is free!!

Usability
It's usable and very convenient, but not always intuitive. For example, we had difficulties figuring out how to pull a list of donors from a specific 12-month period. There were many settings and options, so it was very trial and error.

I think Salesforce has so much functionality that it makes it difficult in terms of overall usability. Once you can figure it out, it's a 10/10, it's just getting there. If you're willing to do the work to figure it out then you're golden. For what it's worth, I don't know if you're going to find something with this level of functionality that's easier to figure out

Reliability and Availability
I have never had an issue accessing eTapestry. It does occasionally go down for maintenance. When that happens, they give you a lot of notice and generally schedule maintenance for hours between midnight and 6am so that business won't be disrupted.

The product does what it is supposed to, although there are downsides. There are positive and negatives for every product. This is less expensive alternative for a small organization tracking minimum information.

I've had nothing but great experience when reaching out for support on this program. The team has always been supportive and polite when answering questions. They have a lot of knowledge to share and provide good insight into the product. It helps to have their perspective on certain issues

I would say the support for Salesforce for Nonprofits is overall pretty great, as they offer many avenues to find the information you need and offer nonprofits the ability to work with Salesforce-trained volunteers or professional for free, which is useful especially during the customization process. I will say that I have often encountered situations where I needed to figure out certain information that I could not find even amongst the vast network of knowledge they provide.

In person training is always helpful for a new product however I think that the online tutorials would do just fine.

They explained everything well to us throughout the process. It was easy to find resources needed to answer any questions that we had. Support was also available should we need further assistance from the resources found online. They were also quick to respond to our teams inquiries, which was much appreciated.

I was not there for the implementation of this platform. Unfortunately I am unable to just skip this question as it requires a response, which needs to be fifty characters, so here we are. At thirty four, I need to add a few more words to satisfy this requirement. Done.

I very much prefer eTapestry to Raiser's Edge. I found the separation between the database and web view of Raiser's Edge very disorienting and didn't like having to switch back and forth between the two views to be able to complete certain tasks. I REALLY didn't like that a few tasks had to be done in both database and web view. Although it was worded as an "upgrade", I felt that we lost a lot of functionality, in particular with gift imports. I also didn't like gifts from the website having to land in Online Express, rather than being able to go directly into a constituent account

Return on Investment
  • Increased our capacity to fundraise.
  • Allowed more opportunity to know our donors (tracking and data collection).
  • Limited users - due to steep learning curve - as such less of our development staff know how to use the system to its fullest potential.

  • Salesforce for nonprofits is our source of truth for donor and member data.
  • It's made a world of difference to know we only have to look in one place for an address or donation history.
  • We have yet to connect Salesforce with our financial software (QBO) given the cost of the third-party connectors though I am investing a fewer lower cost options I have just found.
