Chose Critical Mention
We selected Critical Mention and are trapped in a contract with them we can't use. We ended up having to go with another software that does what we need. Grateful that the other company allowed a trial period to ensure that it did have the components we needed. At a …
Chose Critical Mention
It provides both free and premium and you can also add a portfolio, other media links, and website. It also verifies its members like popular apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram [do]. It increases your visibility on google search for free like I use it.
Chose Critical Mention
Critical Mention has an excellent TV coverage solution in the marketing or communication industry. More so, helps us identify or see the comments in most of the social sites mentions, and gives the allowance of positively responding to them. The integration with Google, for the …
Chose Critical Mention
TV Eyes seems to be the biggest competitor to Critical Mention, but we've found that it's just not quite as intuitive or simple to track specific media hits. We keep going back to Critical Mention year after year because it does the job we need it to do to track broadcast TV …
Chose Critical Mention
I am not one to bash a competition product, but I have used several other similar products from different vendors. It has mostly been a disaster. Poor customer service to poor software interface has led me to Critical Mention. It's the first time I have ever stayed with a …
Chose Critical Mention
TV Eyes will grab EVER SINGLE mention of your organization but their UI is clunky and the reporting and editing tool takes some practice.
Chose Critical Mention
I initially selected Critical Mention because of it's DIY, quick, easy, and intuitive monitoring platform which tracks the most TV outlets in the industry. I stay with Critical Mention because of its customer service.
Chose Critical Mention
We previously used a company called TV Eyes for our media monitoring. When a big event happened and their system was down, we were very disappointed. The disappointment was compounded by their reaction and customer service. They never offered to help fix it or offered an …
Chose Critical Mention
Both Cision and Meltwater are over price and undervalued in our opinion. They both cost more and provide less. If Critical Mention makes a few changes to their software and expands its online offer and social media tracking both of these software companies would be obsolete. …
Chose Critical Mention
I've used TV Eyes as well, a similar product.
Chose Critical Mention
I honestly do not know of any other alternatives to Critical Mention that I have personally used in a professional capacity. The only one that I am aware of is TYeye and from what I have heard about the platform from colleagues is that Critical Mention is a much better and …
Chose Critical Mention
Burrelles is confusing and outdated. Critical Mention works on the side of the account team and understands our needs better. I was able to share hundreds of outlets that I wanted to be included in my online search and Critical Mention added all of them in less than a day I was …
Chose Critical Mention
I've used TVEyes in the past. I like it because it's easier to point out national media hits with their search options. You can also search for key words in a given time period.
Chose Critical Mention
I haven't used any other products except for Critical Mention.
Chose Critical Mention
Critical Mention offers a different value than Radian6. Radian6 helped my client achieve the monitoring that they required, but it didn't capture the news segments like Critical Mention was able to.
Chose Critical Mention
Critical mention has a more extensive list and the customer service is great.
Chose Critical Mention
Before Critical Mention, I utilized VMS for similar projects and there is simply no comparison between the two platforms. While VMS reported similar results, it did not include the same post-production features as Critical Mention and the lack of self-service functionality was …
Chose Critical Mention
I did not select Critical Mention, it was what was made available to me by my employer. Although I like Critical Mention, I prefer Cision because I'm more familiar with it.
Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
It's a much better product, although not free. We were looking for an enterprise-grade product for which Oracle checked the boxes.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
We used Hootsuite Pro before we switched over to Oracle Social Cloud. Back in 2012, I would have said that Hootsuite was a solid competitor to Oracle Social Cloud. Unfortunately, the amount of feature updates that Hootsuite used to receive has significantly decreased. It is …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Oracle SRM was ready being used when I joined the company, it wasn't my choice. We stopped using it when that business unit had been sold off and is no longer part of our company. We are currently looking at the above mentioned alternatives.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Oracle SRM is a great tool for enterprise organizations. You can handle all of your social marketing activities right from one platform. It also integrates easily into other Oracle applications such as Eloqua and Support. I recommend it to any large organization.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
We started our social marketing journey by just using the free version of Hootsuite. It had good listening but was limited in other areas, especially as it related to campaign tracking and some analytics. Even looking at the Enterprise versions, we didn't feel it had the …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Tweetdeck is simpler to use, but mostly because it simply has a lot less functionalities. It simply does not work well with teams or a lot of channels across the globe.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
I have used one other enterprise level application; it was comparable to SRM. We moved away from the first application because our parent company uses many other Oracle applications, not because we were 'unhappy' with the application we had at the time. Having said that, SRM …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
We chose SRM because of its integration with our other products, the ability to also offer social publishing and its feature set
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Our primary concern was to guard against comments that are beyond the scope authorized by the FDA -- off-label claims, in other words. SRM was the best tool to provide the control our management required. The others had incomplete or easy-to-evade controls. However, we've found …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
We no longer use Oracle SRM. Instead we use Sprinklr which has a nice Eloqua integration for advertising campaigns, and Socedo which allows us to prospect on social, add new contacts to our database, and match existing contacts to social IDs.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
It's been a long time since we evaluated different products (before we got Oracle SRM) so I don't have a clear remembrance of Hearsay, but I think I remember Oracle's tools integrating much better and having measurements that our division was interested at the time of purchase. …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Seamless, fast integration with Eloqua for lead generation and marketing automation, superior social listening/monitoring functionality, ability to have unlimited users were our top reasons for selecting the tool -- all of which were differentiators from the other platforms …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
This is the first SRM that I have used. Based on its performance I can't see myself using anything else.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Oracle Social Relationship Management (SRM) is far better than the above mentioned tools. The tool is easier to use and more consistent. The team supporting it is also more advanced in understanding.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Oracle is a very strong platform. Spredfast is strong at content management and approvals. Salesforce is great at real time.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
It's more detailed in terms of info / stats it provides, but Curalate's program is easier to use / more intuitive.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
When I was evaluating products for our communications department two things stood out to me about Oracle, the price point and the service. For what you receive, I believe Oracle is an excellent product. Not as expensive as some others, but equally (or better!) quality, plus the …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Aside from offering us a good deal with our current CRM subscription, Oracle offered us a solution in one tool that used to require us three different tools.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
At the time we reviewed the services Oracle SRM delivered the full range enterprise package for the most effective cost. I plan to reevlauate after another 6 months to ensure we are still getting the best deal.
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
Vitrue offered a lot of the same capabilities as Wildfire but for a better price. I also really liked their customer service and account reps - they were extremely helpful and made our business objectives a priority. If Vitrue's software couldn't accomplish something they would …
Chose Oracle Social Cloud (legacy)
We had a quick trial with shoutlet before signing a long term contract with involver, though I was personally in support of going with shoutlet. I have worked on Shoutlet, Vitrue, Involver, Wildfire, and Olapic, and Involver/Shoutlet are just seemingly behind the times. I would …

Critical Mention is excellent for media monitoring across platforms including TV, radio and online. It is easy to grab and tailor video clips and share. The reporting function makes creating thorough reports simple. Most importantly, the customers service is unparalleled. Any time I've ever had a question or challenge, it has been handled quickly. I would suggest that you make sure to take the time to thoroughly set up your searches to be sure you don't miss anything.

It's well suited if you are in a situation where you need control of the content that is published out to your channels. It provides complete trackability for every action taken by each member of staff when working with the system so you can always know who was overall responsible for any decision that was made. It's less suited to small businesses that have limited social media presence. It is very slow on being kept up to date with the native platform and the lack of ability to schedule the same post multiple times is frustrating

Pros
  • Monitor media mentions and send alerts: it's great because I don't have to go in and search every day. I am set in the morning and afternoon with alerts.
  • Online media reports: it's great because it helps me create my own personal reports in a format that my clients love.
  • Customer service: our account team dedicated to us is amazing. There has never been a time that they let us down.

  • Ease of reporting. Allows us to pull reports by network or by campaign quickly. This used to be a manual process that would take upwards of 8 hours per month.
  • Real-time social media monitoring, with virtually no spam. Other providers struggle to remove spam content from their social monitoring results which makes sifting through mentions cumbersome.
  • Integration into other tools. Being able to integrate other Oracle products like Eloqua and web analytics like Omniture helps us see social media content as part of our larger pipeline now.

Cons
  • The media database was not as robust as our proprietary one, it contained a key journalist that had been dead for 3 years for example, others that retired or moved to other outlets. Its influencer list was dismal. Fortunately when I complained (which I did the first time I used it) they removed it from our subscription and did not charge us. They said we could add the updates or add our contacts - not sure why they thought someone would pay for a service and then give valuable information to the company that would then be shared with competitors. They removed it from our bill so that at least was positive.
  • It only tracks hashtags across social media accounts that have been added to its system. Right from the beginning, just by running a hashtag search on IG, we could see missing posts. They said we could add all those in batches or manually one at a time which was work we were hoping to avoid with this subscription. Basically, it becomes a service that prepares nice-looking reports, not one that monitors mentions on public accounts.
  • They should allow a trial demo period.

  • Tabs tool could be much more user friendly, i.e. completely "drag and drop". It was pretty easy to get something functional built, but if you didn't know how to code CSS then you were pretty much hopeless when it came to making the tab look "professional".
  • Their bulk uploading/scheduling feature for posts was always having issues, it was something I always wanted to take advantage of and was bummed that it didn't really work well enough to make it efficient.
  • When I was using the tool, it was a very janky user experience when you needed to go and locate a post or comment that had been automatically removed due to keyword filters. And there was no simple way to just view a stream of what's being said on/to your accounts.

Likelihood to Renew
I gave this a 5 only because I do not make the decisions to renew. When I used this at my previous company, I also recommended to the decision maker to renew this tool as it was a crucial piece to the overall client objective

Our personal support finally came back at the end of our contract, but their product just could not offer what the competition offered. Social media is moving fast, and you need to work with companies that understand that and are at the forefront of trends, you can't get stuck with a company that is standing still.

Usability
It's great for quickly looking up a specific clip, but this platform makes it difficult to select and accurately report on a high volume of clips

Look, Critical Mention follows up on an or phone call immediately or in the AM the following business day. I have called them after hours and get a live person to work through any issues that may have come up. Support seems to be job one with Critical Mention.

I am not one to bash a competition product, but I have used several other similar products from different vendors. It has mostly been a disaster. Poor customer service to poor software interface has led me to Critical Mention. It's the first time I have ever stayed with a product beyond one year. One company only ever reached out to me when it was time for a renewal despite repeated reach-outs on my part during the year.

We started our social marketing journey by just using the free version of Hootsuite. Return on Investment
  • Every week the department I am a part does dozens of searches on Critical Mention. We use it as our primary search engine for all things broadcast.
  • One negative aspect is that we do not know where Critical Mention gets their audience viewing numbers from so we just have to take it as their word.
  • Another negative aspect is that we are limited on the amount of time that one clip can be so we have to share several clips of the same show with our clients.

  • Audience. Before SRM, we had 1,000 Likes on Facebook. In 1 1/2 years using SRM, our Likes have grown to 20,000.
  • Frequency. Before SRM, we posted once a week on Facebook & Twitter. In 1 1/2 years using SRM, we now post 54 times a month, or about twice a day on weekdays.
  • Internal acceptance. Before SRM, social was considered "a hobby" by senior management. Now, social marketing is a key part of the strategy of every product launch. That is due to the hard work of our social marketing manager, of course, but her efforts were amplified by SRM.
