What is Carbonite Information Archiving?

Carbonite Information Archiving (formerly Zix Information Archiving, or sold under the name ZixArchive), stores an unlimited number of files and communications across email, SMS, and emerging platforms like Microsoft Teams and social media. It helps protect organizations against compliance violations and unplanned litigations and is offered as a replacement for organizations moving off of aging, on-premise, email-only hardware.

Almost exactly what I'm looking for in a solution

Cons

  • Setup (would be nice to get historical data from before setup)
  • Download a copy of a message instead of just delivering from within the individual message
  • Integration of archive into other features (e.g., threat protection/tools)--the ability to get to the archiver's copy of the message would be nice

We use ZixArchive to journal all mail for the organization, as well as all teams chats. This is for compliance purposes.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Zix along with our Exchange subscription. Due to the large volume of emails, most of us receive on a daily basis, security and data recovery have been a concern, which is where Zix comes into the picture. We haven't had any tool that allows information retention and archiving for Microsoft Teams. It lets you manage who can see your data and when. The search feature is very advanced with lots of complex querying methods to help you find exactly what you want. Accidental deletion and retrieval of deleted emails without losing any data is our main purpose for choosing this software.

  • The search feature is complex and difficult to understand for normal users.
  • It is a bit on the expensive side.
  • More integration of other features like threat protection, etc would be nice.
