Simplicity!

Pros

  • Pushes schedules to employees calendars to remedy missed shift/s excuses.
  • Dashboard and tabs are seamless to learn and work with.
  • Exporting time sheets is simple and expedites payroll via Excel or CSV.
  • The App is really easy to use.

Cons

  • I would say that if timesheets exported to a Deputy driven format that did not require calculations/sums etc, no extra work, that would shave quite a bit of time off the process.
  • The Reports center is a format that is really complicated and unhelpful for data. Mainly the Report Builder.

  • Definitely Time Saved.
  • It is cost effective based on the number of People via billing as employees.

Put Deputy in charge. Simple to use and allows visibility for the whole team.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Deputy is being used across our whole business, we have 6 locations, and it is so useful for our site managers to be able to view who is on shift at any given time through the app.

It helps with employee time off/leave requests all being in the correct place and getting rid of paper requests.

I also use this for staff communication but have not found this the best way to communicate due to missed notifications.

Pros

  • Ease of use, very user friendly.
  • Templates make weekly rota's very quick.
  • Logging absence and keeping a record.
  • Clocking in and out is very easy for employees and they can clearly see their hours worked.

Cons

  • Leave balance is tricky sometimes, if my holiday year runs from 1st Feb to 31st Jan there could do with a way to set a date that the balance goes up to. For example you can see an amount of holidays you have left then any scheduled holidays and then a balance but if you add in leave for after the holiday year ends then it still comes off the balance and gives an inaccurate balance as days would reset before this and a new holiday year starts so if, in December, you book a few leave dates in for April it looks like you go into minus holidays but actually they reset on 1st Feb and so makes it hard, without calculating manually, how many days you have left of that particular holiday year.
  • Setting notifications could be made simpler, I have given up going into each location and setting the notifications as they confuse me.
  • The communications news feed board is quite good but more often than not the employees would not get a notification and miss a message.

Return on Investment

  • The app definitely saves my managers time when planning as they can copy over a saved template and simply drag employees into a shift. It also allows you to see the history of a shift in case there is any queries afterwards.

We use Deputy across the whole operation to schedule and manage our team.

Pros

  • Scheduling.
  • Timesheets.
  • Tracking staff logins.

Cons

  • Entering sales & forecasts manually if not using a supported POS.
  • Reporting is lacking it would be good to see total costs currently it split between salary & hourly also to be able to check on how much tax/super/leave is being spent each week.

Return on Investment

  • None that we have noticed it has just made scheduling easier.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I am working in an accounting firm and Palisade is one of our clients. Deputy is not directly used by our firm but by Palisade Hotel. I introduced and implemented Deputy to Palisade Hotel 4-5 years ago and since then Hotel start managing their staff very effectively and managers are top of the employees' timesheet and rostered hours. We can now, track their time very easy, estimate future weeks salary cost and prepare very accurate payroll reports.

Return on Investment

  • Accurate Timesheets (cost savings) - after we implemented Deputy, we realized it's across close to 50 employees. We started saving at least 10% to 15% of total hours as employees were clocking early and later previously and we did not have a security measures like Deputy. This is close to $200-$250 savings across the whole payroll per month.
  • Time Saving - with the payroll implementation, we increased the efficiency of the payroll. It used to take almost half a day to prepare the payroll but now, it takes only few hours including final confirmation with multiple managers.
  • Improved Accuracy - it helped us to run much accurate and smoother payroll and time sheeting as it is all approved and it is very transparent by the employee. There is no question when it comes to the finalization of the reports.
