ESET PROTECT : Is It the Right Cybersecurity Solution for Your Business?

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We currently

use ESET PROTECT to cover our endpoint, EDR, managing security across our

organization, reporting, managing endpoint/EDR logs, providing a clear

oversight of BitLocker implementation and keys on our devices, we are also

looking into managing our mobile devices.

We used to

use their products for exchange and SharePoint before migrating that part to

the cloud.

Our ESET PROTECT instance is hosted on Prem which is important to our organization’s

needs and values.

Pros

  • Ease of deployment
  • Clear interface and easy to track incidents on affected devices
  • Easy installation and updating of on Prem deployment

Cons

  • A new task is created each time you want to modify something on an endpoint like update a product or run a scan, instead of offering to use an existing task.
  • Policies sometimes don’t apply to endpoints, it’s rare but I usually have to check every so often that the policies have applied to new pcs.
  • Documentation from on ESET PROTECT's website can be vague or lackluster in some cases but their support can usually help if your can’t find what you need.

Return on Investment

  • In our case the cost is around 50-60% less per endpoint than competing products we’ve tested and inquired about pricing.
  • Hosting on prem has a lesser cost than the cloud version to my knowledge.
  • Proactive/automated actions from ESET PROTECT has reduced IT costs.

ESET Protect Enterprise - Yes, it will stop a million dollar ransomware attack.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We started using eSet for our 100 machines after having years of frustration with another antivirus product. We are a virtual server proponent, so we installed their pre-built Linux-based appliance and in about 30 minutes, we had a fully functioning server. An hour later, we were packaging installation bundles and silently installing on our workstations. Not all machines took the server-based install, so we had to install some manually with the generated installation packages. The install packs are nice because they did contain all of our licensing information and was basically a one touch installation and it did the rest of the work.

Pros

  • Detection of threats
  • Prevention of malware, ransomware, and viruses
  • Reporting of infections or other issues

Cons

  • Installation - Would like to see every machine get installation from server without individual touch by staff
  • Uninstallation of other AV software as part of install
  • Could use update servers in the US. We had firewall issues due to a geographical filter block and had to figure out how to let our systems access their server through that wall.

Most Important Features

  • It works exactly as advertised
  • It protected our environment and did so while others failed.
  • Price was very reasonable across a multi-year license

Return on Investment

  • Stopped ransomware attack before it could do any damage
  • Affordable, so our budget was happier
  • Has caught several different malware/virus websites and emails that could have hurt productivity and staff workloads

Great value tool

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ESET is one of the best antivirus on the market and helps block some sites on the web, so it can be beneficial for all companies if they don't want their employees to use other entertainment sites. It also protects the system from all ransomware and viruses.

Pros

  • It monitors websites, email and of course file access and has worked extremely well so far!
  • Knowing that I can manage everything from one easy-to-understand dashboard also gives me peace of mind.

Cons

  • From my point of view it is a great tool that does not need to be improved so I am happy with it.

Most Important Features

  • It is extremely easy to manage as onboarding new users is easy.

Return on Investment

  • Since I have been using it, I have not found any fault or negative aspect of this tool.
