Good Social media tool at enterprise-level

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our organization uses it as a social media tool for collaborations, announcements, and staying connected. The product solves the requirement of a secure social platform within the organization's active directory and network. However, I think the external equivalents (Twitter, Insta or FB) are far better in terms of UI and algorithm both.

Pros

  • Announcements
  • Sharing photos and updates
  • Discussions
  • Knowledge Sharing

Cons

  • Realtime chat
  • Searching older posts is difficult
  • Low engagement in smaller organizations

Return on Investment

  • I am just a user of Yammer so I can't evaluate any ROI
  • However, I can say that utilizing all features of Yammer could've saved millions in a large organization
  • Nothing specific

Yammer is great!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We struggle in a remote posture to get to know each other in a friendly and meaningful way. We use Yammer internally to get to know each other, and share funny pictures, recipes, and other light communications that don't require an email. It's a great way to get to know people in a nice and friendly way!

Pros

  • Comments and reactions.
  • Encourages participation.
  • Light and easy to use.

Cons

  • People can dread using it.
  • Lack of comfort in sharing personal info.
  • Can be burdensome.

Return on Investment

Yammer Makes the World Go Round

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Yammer has been at Manhattan Associates for over 2 years. It is used across the globe and across all departments so that we can work more effectively and efficiently. Key initiatve to break down silos, help departments work together, find answers when we don't always know who to ask.

Pros

  • Easy to set up, easy to work with, each to use. Not much of a learning curve, which makes it easy to get rolling in your organization.
  • Works with text, photos, videos, files.
  • In the cloud, and on mobile.

Cons

  • Would be helpful to edit a post once it's been published (correcting typos, adding a few more sentences rather than start another post)
  • Mobile app is good, but not as robust of an experience with critical needs such as "search" and accessing Yammer Notes
  • When files are uploaded, there is no way to organize/view them say by alphabetical title, author, etc.

Return on Investment

  • Increased employee efficiency
  • Increased learning curve of getting people up to speed on a project (they join the group and can see past info, files, etc.)
  • increased communication between peers as well as leadership to employees
