HireVue offers virtual convenience with the end-to-end recruitment process

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For both internal and external first interview steps (after an initial resume review), HireVue is an integral piece of the end to end recruitment process. HireVue eliminates scheduling for both the candidate and interviewer by providing a virtual platform to answer pre-selected questions at leisure within a specified timeframe. This gives each participating party flexibility and saves time.

Pros

  • Provided a virtual platform that is user-friendly
  • Gives candidates time to practice prior to official interview recording
  • Provides practical tips to make the process easier

Cons

  • Allowing candidates to re-record if they mess up on their answer
  • Could broaden its offering and look into innovative ways to service a more inclusive population (for example, this platform can potentially exclude our Individuals with Disabilities population).

Return on Investment

  • It can potentially exclude candidates that do not readily have access to technology
  • It can potentially negatively impact a candidate that isn’t accustomed to a virtual interview platform
  • It captures a higher rate of candidates for managers to potentially review.

Best of both worlds

Pros

  • Video quality was good.
  • Instructions to get started were easy.
  • No connection issues.

Cons

  • No cons at this point. It has served the function it was intended for.

Most Important Features

  • The applicant can complete the interview when it's convenient for them.
  • I can view the responses when it's convenient for me.

Return on Investment

  • The ability of being flexible is definitely a plus.
  • I don't have to worry about being live if I don't need to be.
  • The applicants can do their interview during their leisure.

Simplistic and easy to use platform with room for improvements and reliability.

Pros

  • It allows candidates to be recorded answering some initial interview questions and eliminates the need for recruiters or hiring manager to get on the phone or meet with them live.
  • It stores the video interviews in a manner that is easy to do, use, and recover.
  • It's also great to be able to record these interviews and then they can be shared with others on the team as needed for panel interview purposes, etc.

Cons

  • The reliability of the platform isn't always great [in my experience]. [I feel] recording quality sometimes isn't as good as you'd expect it to be or files have been known to change or become reformatted for some reason making it difficult to use on other computers.
  • [I feel] the user experience and functionality also are underwhelming, you'd think there would be more options for customization or easier to do and find the commands you need.
  • Additional functionality would be great also, especially for engineering roles, maybe an interactive, recordable white board function.

Most Important Features

  • Able to record initial interviews and access them at a later time, also able to share them with others in the organization is a great option.
  • The ease of use and how straight forward the tool is makes it un-intimidating.
  • The fact we can pick and choose which teams and departments can use the tool rather than spreading it organizationally wide when it may not always make sense given the number of licenses.

Return on Investment

  • It's had a positive effect because it frees up time and does the leg work for many recruiters and hiring managers in the front end, which leads to more time to focus on other work.
  • It's archives the video interviews and how we use the tool and makes it so we can retrieve it easily and be shared in the appropriate situations.
  • The functionality and reliability of the platform could be a bit better. I wasn't involved in the selection process so I can't speak to how much it cost, but it seems to add value.

HireVue Review

Pros

  • OnDemand Interviews is a great feature that lets you set up video/multiple choice/codevue questions. You send it to the candidates and they are able to take the interview on their time and in the comfort of their own home.
  • HireVue and HireVue Pro apps. This is a great tool for manager and candidates to take/review interviews on the go.
  • HireVue has the ability to upload candidates via a CVS file, which is nice when you have tons of applicants.

Cons

  • We have experienced some technical issues with the Live Interview feature. A lot of time it is because the user's computer settings are not set up correctly.
  • They are working on adding a feature that will allow you to edit the email templates. Hoping for this to be released soon as it is nice to have different communications sent out for different cites around the globe.
  • Customized CodeVues can be difficult to set up. Recommend having a technical employee help out with this. Would like to see more CodeVue questions added to the Question Library.

Return on Investment

  • Speeds up the interview process.
  • Screens candidates based on pre-built test/interviews.
  • Apps are great for those that are always on the go.

Thumbs Up for HireVue!

Pros

  • The platform is simple to use for not only the Talent team but our hiring managers as well. Any organization with high-volume recruiting will appreciate any technology that eases the workload of hiring managers and brings candidates to the table quickly.
  • Digital videos are easy to share with multiple stakeholders throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • The platform is so flexible, since its inception we have designed other types of uses for HireVue throughout the Human Resources department - career fairs, exit interviews. One platform has the capability to deliver multiple programs across our organization.

Cons

  • Product enhancement or functionality enhancements would be my suggestions - such as the ability to maintain a history tab at the candidate level.

Return on Investment

  • Time to fill has been reduced/ shortened since we are able to screen more candidates quicker.
  • Time to schedule has been shortened as candidates are able to self-schedule their own interviews with a hiring manager; no more chasing people through phone calls to coordinate multiple schedules.
  • Candidate reach has been greatly enhanced - we can reach more candidates than we ever could with traditional phone screening.
